Well… AccessiBelle is organising another FREE community event! 🎉🙌

This time, we are visiting NT Fire and Rescue Service 🚒🔥

And who is this firefighter?

Meet Firefighter Jay!

Have you ever wanted to learn about firefighting? 🔥🚒

Do you want to know:
🔹 What is their job?
🔹 What equipment do they use?
🔹 What is it like to be a firefighter?

Come and have a look, learn, ask questions and meet the firefighters!

It is not far from Parap.
You know Stuart Highway?
The United Petrol Station is on the corner. At the traffic lights, look across the road, on the other corner… That is the fire station!

⚠️ BUT… there are TWO IMPORTANT THINGS to remember:

1. PARKING IS LIMITED 🚗⚠️

There are only a small number of parking spaces.

If you can, carpool with your friends or family.

For example:

🚗 Pick up your friends, children
👨‍👩‍👧 Come together in one car

This means fewer cars at the fire station.

2. FIRE SEASON 🔥⚠️

You may have noticed the smell of smoke around. Yes, it is fire season now.

Firefighters have an important job.

*Jay is preparing for a job.

Conversation between Tiff and Jay:

Tiff: “Ohhh, what is happening? Do you need to save a person now??”

Jay: “Yes – Shalom Kaa with bolt cutters ready to go!” 👨‍🚒✂️

Tiff: “Shalom!? Ohhhh, we need to save Shalom!!!!”

This event could be cancelled at any time, so keep that at the back of your mind. ⚠️

If there is an emergency, they may need to leave suddenly. 🚒💨

💙 A belated thank you to Kerrie from Auslan Hub and Dr Ramas McRae for travelling north to Darwin and supporting our Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and their families.

Living in the NT can come with unique challenges, including distance, limited local services and access to resources. That’s why opportunities like this are so valuable for our students and families.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, experience and connection to Auslan, Deaf culture, and the wider Deaf community. Your visit was greatly appreciated! 🤟🏽💙

We will continue advocating for stronger Deaf education support and greater accessibility for Deaf students across the NT. 💙

The Growing Up Connected and Deaf and Thriving workshops with Dr Ramas McRae PhD are only for NT Department of Education children, students, and families.

⚠️ PLEASE NOTE:
Ramas is not doing a workshop or presentation for the wider Deaf community.

However, Ramas would love to meet the wider Deaf community! 🙌💙

What an unforgettable morning! 🌿🐒🧡

Emma Memma Jungle Tour was an absolute HIT! 🎉

Our small but incredible Darwin Deaf community was lucky enough to enjoy some special one-on-one time with Emma and Elvin after the show. Living in an isolated city with limited accessible events and services, opportunities like this are incredibly rare.

AccessiBelle saw the opportunity and reached out to Emma Watkins—and wow, she and her team absolutely delivered for our Deaf community! 🧡 Their kindness, enthusiasm, and commitment to inclusion made the day truly unforgettable.

A huge thank you to Emma, Elvin, Jack, David, Hayley, and everyone else on your amazing team.

A very special thank you for providing our young Deaf teens with a private VIP tour and spending genuine time with them. You gave them hope, inspiration, and the belief that anything is possible. Those moments will stay with them for years to come, and I cannot thank you enough for investing in the next generation of our Deaf community. 🤟✨

I'd also like to thank the wonderful AANT Centre - Darwin's Premier Live Entertainment Venue—Brigette, Alana, India, Neza, and Davide—for helping bring everything together, especially with such a tight turnaround. Your support, flexibility, and teamwork made this possible.

Today was more than just a show—it was about connection, accessibility, inclusion, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. 🧡
