From 1 November 2026, eligible three year olds can access the new Medicare Healthy Kids Check 💛

This dedicated appointment is an opportunity to chat with the nurse & your GP about your child’s health, development & everyday wellbeing, including:

🌱 Growth & physical health
💬 Speech, communication & developmental milestones
🧸 Behaviour, play & social & emotional development
👀 Hearing, eyesight & oral health
🍎 Eating, sleep & toileting

It’s also time to ask questions, share anything you’ve noticed & discuss any concerns. The nurse & your GP can offer practical advice & arrange further assessment or support where needed.

The check is bulk billed & available once for Medicare eligible children aged three, before their fourth birthday.

📞 Contact our administration team & ask about a “3 year old Healthy Kids Check”, so we can arrange the appropriate appointment.

Please join us in welcoming Stephen, a medical student who will be completing a four week placement with FTMC Group from Tuesday 6th October – Friday 30th October!

Originally from Sydney, Stephen spent his fourth year of medical school in Taree, where he absolutely loved his time on the Mid North Coast. He’s excited to be back in the area & finishing the year with a placement here in Forster.

Stephen has a strong interest in General Practice, particularly its focus on building strong connections within the community & the opportunity to take a preventative approach to healthcare.

Outside of medicine, Stephen is an avid spearfisherman & is already familiar with our coastline, having dived off Burgess Beach several times last year! He loves bringing his catch home to cook & share with friends & family. When he’s not doing something fish related, you might find him baking sourdough at home or doing pottery at a local studio.

During his placement, Stephen may be involved in consultations alongside our GPs. If you do not feel comfortable having a medical student present during your consultation, please let our administration team know. Your care will not be affected in any way.

Your family health history can help your GP understand your health risks & guide your care.

If a close relative has had heart disease, diabetes, cancer, etc it’s worth mentioning what the condition was & roughly how old they were when diagnosed.

You don’t need to know every detail. Share what you do know at your next appointment.

This dementia action week, let’s make it easier to talk about changes in memory or thinking.

If you’re concerned about yourself or someone close to you, speak with your GP. There can be different reasons for these changes, & your GP can help work out what assessment may be appropriate.

Guess who’s back, back again…
Zac is back, tell a friend!

We’re very excited to welcome Dr Zac Hudson back to FTMC, this time as a Term 3 GP Registrar!

Dr Hudson completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Sydney in 2023, following an earlier career in engineering. He has since gained experience across emergency medicine & anaesthetics in the Forster region & is now continuing his General Practice training with us.

Dr Hudson has a strong interest in holistic & lifestyle medicine, preventative healthcare, diving & hyperbaric medicine. He is passionate about helping patients make sustainable lifestyle changes that support their long-term health & wellbeing.

Outside of medicine, you’ll find Dr Hudson recreational & technical diving, behind the camera doing underwater photography, or putting his background in diving systems engineering to good use.

We’re thrilled to have you back, Dr Hudson!

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. Your age, family history & individual circumstances can affect your risk.
