One of the best parts of what we do is seeing the difference exercise makes outside the clinic too. ✨

We were out for a family walk along the breakwall when we ran into Dennis, one of our wonderful clients, out walking his dog, Harry. 👨‍🦳🐶

✅ Dennis completes 1:1 Exercise Physiology sessions with us at Forster Tuncurry Rehabilitation, working through an individualised exercise program in the clinic. We love seeing our clients take that work beyond their sessions and continue moving, building their strength, confidence and capacity to stay active in everyday life.

While we were chatting, my youngest daughter very quickly claimed Harry as her own and took over walking duties. We thought there was a pretty good chance Harry was coming home with us! 🐶😂

Wrapping up Women’s Health Week! This year’s theme, Do It Anyway, is a reminder that sometimes the biggest step is simply showing up, even when things are hard. And it’s even better when you have good people beside you. 🥰❤️

We love seeing women of all ages and abilities showing up, getting stronger, moving their bodies, supporting each other, having fun and getting it done. 💪

💖 Because women are strong.
💖 Women are resilient.
💖 Women are determined.
💖 And women support women.

Women’s Health Week gives us a reason to celebrate women’s health, movement, friendship and community, but supporting women’s health doesn’t stop here.

Women are worth celebrating 365 days a year. 🙌

Women’s health doesn’t stop being important as we age. In fact, it becomes even more important.

Healthy ageing is about more than simply getting older. It’s about maintaining the strength, balance, mobility, bone health and physical ability needed to support independence and quality of life. ✨

Exercise can help support healthy ageing by:

🌸Maintaining muscle mass and strength
🌸Reducing the risk of chronic disease
🌸Supporting bone health and reducing fracture risk
🌸Improving balance and reaction time
🌸Reducing the risk of falls
🌸Supporting cognitive health and overall wellbeing

With the guidance of Accredited Exercise Physiologists, exercise can be safely prescribed, adapted and progressed according to your individual health, needs and physical abilities.

🌸 As Exercise Physiologists, we can tailor exercise to a woman’s stage of life, health goals and individual needs, considering factors such as age, medical conditions, current physical capacity, strength, balance, bone health and injury history.

🦴 Take bone health, for example.

✅ Impact loading is an important component of exercise prescription for women, particularly when it comes to maintaining and improving bone mineral density. Exercises involving jumping, landing and other weight-bearing impacts create mechanical loading through the skeleton. This stimulus encourages bone remodelling and adaptation, helping bones maintain their strength and density over time.

Because strong bones aren’t just important now, they’re an investment in reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures later in life.

🌸 As women, it’s easy to put our own health and wellbeing on the back burner. There’s always something else that needs doing, someone else who needs us, or a reason to wait until life settles down.

But what if you didn’t wait?

What if you took one step towards looking after yourself, even when life is busy?

👉 More than 40% of Australian women aren’t getting enough exercise (AHW, 2024), yet regular movement is one of the most powerful things we can do to support our physical and mental wellbeing.

This Women’s Health Week, Do It Anyway. Put your health on the list. Start where you are. Take the first step. And let’s do it together. 👭✨

Women’s Health Week | 7–11 September 🩷

🌸 This is what Women’s Health Week looks like in real life.

A mother and daughter.
Two different stages of life.
Two different goals.
Two individual reasons for wanting to feel healthier and stronger.
One shared commitment to their health.

Di and Rachele are both making time for their health and wellbeing, working towards their own individual goals with the support of our Exercise Physiologists and, perhaps most importantly, each other. 💪🥰

💖 This Women’s Health Week, we’re celebrating women at every stage and the small, realistic steps they take towards better health and wellbeing.

I’m starting to think this might just turn into the Fred Appreciation Page! 😂❤️

After surprising us with homemade scones the other week, Fred has done it again, fresh homemade pikelets for the team! 🥞 We’re starting to wonder if there’s a strategy behind all this… sweeten us up and hope we take it easy on him!

Safe to say, they didn’t last long… so we’ll just have to wait and see if any of our other members follow Fred’s lead. Hint hint! 😂😋
