💙 Help support a young patient and their family 💙

We’re sharing something a little different today at Biomedical Sports Podiatry.

A young patient of ours is facing a very rare medical condition, and their family needs a helping hand. Both parents have been juggling medical appointments and time away from work while supporting their child through an incredibly difficult time.

Any donation, big or small, can help ease the financial pressure, giving them one less thing to worry about so they can focus on their child’s care.

If you’re able to contribute, please visit their GoFundMe:
https://gofund.me/c22e7ead5

If donating isn’t possible, sharing this post can also make a difference.

Thank you for helping us support this family. 💙

ACHILLES PAIN? YOUR FOOT STRUCTURE COULD PLAY A PART.

Sore at the back of your heel? Stiff when you first get moving? Achilles pain can make walking, running and everyday activities uncomfortable.

Your foot shape is only part of the picture. Your arch structure, ankle movement and walking pattern can influence how your Achilles tendon is loaded—alongside calf strength, footwear and changes in activity.

Having flat feet or high arches doesn’t automatically mean you’ll develop Achilles pain. Understanding how your feet move helps guide an individual treatment plan.

At Biomedical Sports Podiatry, we assess your foot structure, gait and tendon function. Your care may include:

✅ Progressive calf strengthening and tendon-loading exercises
✅ Guidance on activity and training loads
✅ Footwear advice
✅ Heel lifts or other support where appropriate

Give your Achilles the attention it deserves. Book an assessment today.

MENOPAUSE & HEEL PAIN—LET’S TALK ABOUT THE CONNECTION.

Women aged 40–60 experience plantar heel pain at twice the rate of men, coinciding with the years many experience perimenopause and menopause.

Research has also linked menopause with poorer foot-related quality of life. While the exact relationship is still being explored, foot pain deserves attention during this stage of life.

At Biomedical Sports Podiatry, our podiatrists can assess your heel pain and discuss treatment options tailored to your symptoms, lifestyle and goals.

DID YOU KNOW? Arthritis doesn’t have a starting birthday!

Foot arthritis can affect people of different ages—and having flat feet, high arches or an average arch doesn’t make you immune.

Osteoarthritis is more common after 45, but it can develop earlier, particularly following a joint injury. Other forms of arthritis can affect younger adults and even children.

What can midfoot arthritis feel like?

• Aching across the middle or top of your foot
• Stiffness after resting
• Discomfort when walking or pushing off
• Swelling or difficulty getting comfortable in shoes

Your foot type is only part of the picture. Your symptoms, joint health, previous injuries and daily activities all matter.

At Biomedical Sports Podiatry we assess your foot pain and discuss footwear, orthotic therapy and a management plan suited to you.

🇬🇷 Back in Greece for another year of learning! 🦶

It’s great to be back in Greece attending the 7th Panhellenic Podiatry Conference in Athens.

One of the things I love about podiatry is that there’s always something new to learn. No matter how long you’ve been practising, there’s always room to improve, pick up new ideas and learn from others.

Ingrown toenail pain?

Meet Maddy at Biomedical Sports Podiatry

A painful ingrown toenail can make shoes uncomfortable and walking difficult. Madison (Maddy) Wyatt can assess your toenail, discuss treatment options and advise whether nail surgery is appropriate.

Maddy holds AHPRA endorsement for scheduled medicines, allowing her to prescribe from a restricted range of medicines for relevant podiatric conditions within her scope. This supports timely access to medication when clinically appropriate.

Your appointment is an opportunity to discuss your symptoms, treatment options and ongoing care.

Could orthotic therapy help you move more comfortably?

Foot discomfort can affect your daily walks, work and favourite activities. At Biomedical Sports Podiatry, we take the time to understand your symptoms, footwear, activity levels and goals.

Our new podiatrist, Madison (Maddy) Wyatt, offers biomechanical assessments, gait and footwear assessments, and orthotic therapy and reviews.

Your assessment helps determine whether orthotics are suitable for you and how they may fit into your individual treatment plan. Already wearing orthotics? Maddy can review their fit, comfort and suitability for your current needs.

New patients welcome, including NDIS participants and home care package clients with appropriate funding.
