Sounds simple right?

If we tell ourselves that we need to keep going (because someone always needs something), but then don't stop to check on ourselves...

One day you'll end up snapping at your family over something small.

Or you cry in the shower where nobody see it.

Or just feel... completely done 🦆

Stopping long enough to ask yourself: actually, how am I doing RIGHT NOW?

That's where you can start to notice you need to fill your cup, before it's empty.

You don't need a 10-step routine to manage your energy levels.

Just do this 👇

🏃 Rate your physical energy: how does your body feel right now? 0–100%.

🧠 Then rate your mental energy: how's your head? Clear or foggy? 0–100%.

And that's it.

When you do this regularly, you start to notice what drains you, what fills you up, and when you need to pull back before things get hard.

Let us know how you feel when you try this (and give us a follow for more simple mental health tools!)

This is the missing piece 👇

Moments that feel light. Like:

Moving your body to music

Taking a walk

Playing a computer game

When you take time to play, life starts to feel more manageable again.

Some things we’re taught to prioritise as adults make sense.

Sleep.
Nutrition.
Movement.

But play? That often gets left behind.

The reality is play is one of the ways your brain and body stay well, not just feel good in the moment.

It creates space for recovery, connection, and a bit more flexibility in how you respond to life.

And for many people, that’s exactly what they need more of.

When self-care feels like another thing on your neverending to-do list...

Try something lighter 👇

Bring a moment of play into your day. Something simple, like:

Putting on your favourite song

Kicking a ball

Walking in your backyard

It doesn't need to be complicated, just something that makes you smile.

For a lot of people, those two things feel like the opposite.

Vulnerability can feel like something we need to avoid.

But safe play creates small moments where your body learns something different.

That you can:
Try something new
Be a little seen
Feel a bit of energy or uncertainty

…without it turning into fear.

And over time, those moments build trust with others as well as yourself.

We often think play needs this 👇

Having more time

Needing more energy

But that’s not how it works in real life.

Play can be small, even a little bit silly.

It might look like:

Putting music on while you cook

Taking a different route on your walk

Tossing something into the bin and celebrating like you scored a goal

These tiny moments send a signal to your nervous system:

“I’m safe enough to feel a little bit of joy.”

When life gets busy, play is often the first thing to go.

Even though it's essential for our brain and body to develop healthily, and to stay healthy.

It starts to feel unproductive.
Something we’ll get back to “later.”

But your brain and body don’t stop needing it.

If things have been feeling a bit heavy lately…
this is a reminder to gently start to play again.

It can be as simple as:

🦆 Putting on your favourite song
🦆 Crafting something with your hands
🦆 Walking in your backyard

How are you going to play today?

Play isn’t about being silly or “having time.”

It’s about giving your nervous system a chance to feel safe, light, and alive again.

For a lot of people we work with, that feeling has been missing for a while.

So we start small.

Participating in sports
Joining a craft circle
Playing games with a friend

What is one way you engage in play to keep yourself happy?
