Saturday we celebrated one of our very own, the beautiful Shay, as she begins a wonderful new chapter with Nathan.

Shay spends her days supporting women and families through some of life’s most precious moments, always with kindness, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to those in her care. It brings us so much joy to see her now experiencing a special milestone of her own.

From all of us in the Midwifery Group Practice, we wish Shay and Nathan a lifetime of love, laughter, friendship, and happiness. May your marriage be filled with beautiful adventures, treasured memories, and all the joy that comes from building a life together.

Congratulations, Mr and Mrs Skinner. We couldn’t be happier for you both and felt honoured to celebrate this special day alongside you.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible women in our community 💐

Today we celebrate all forms of motherhood and nurturing love — the mums holding babies in their arms, the mums growing babies in their bellies, the women longing to become mothers, the single mums, step-mums, foster and adoptive mums, pet mums, and those carrying the role of “mum” in so many different ways ✨

We also hold close those navigating grief today — women who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss, those missing their own mothers, and those finding Mother’s Day a little tender this year 🤍

At Glen Innes MGP, it is a privilege to walk beside women and families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond. Thank you for trusting us with your journeys, your stories, and your babies.

Your strength, resilience, compassion and love shape families and our wider community every single day.

💜Happy International Day of the Midwife💜

Today we celebrate not only the incredible work of midwives, but also 2 years of Midwifery Group Practice here in Glen Innes 🎉

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate today! Was a pleasure to reconnect and share memories together 💕 and shoutout to The Coffee Incident Glen Innes for our beautiful hot cuppas!

Over the past two years, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside so many women and families — through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period — building relationships that go far beyond clinical care.

These moments captured here reflect what MGP is truly about:

✨ community

From home visits to shared laughs in the park, from supporting births to watching families grow — this model of care allows us to truly know the women we care for, and for them to know and trust us in return.

The feedback from our women says it best — feeling heard, supported, and cared for every step of the way.

We are so grateful to be part of this community and to provide a service that supports not just mothers and babies, but whole families.

Recognising your baby’s early feeding cues is one of the most helpful skills when establishing breastfeeding 🤍

Babies communicate hunger long before they cry. Early cues—such as stirring, bringing hands to mouth, or turning their head (rooting)—are your baby’s way of saying “I’m ready to feed.” Responding at this stage often leads to a calmer, more effective feed and can support milk supply.

As hunger builds, babies may become more active, stretch, or fuss. Crying is a late hunger cue, and at this point babies may need some calming (cuddling, skin-to-skin, gentle talking) before they are ready to latch.

✨ Feeding responsively (sometimes called “cue-based feeding”) is recommended by organisations like WHO and the Australian Breastfeeding Association. It supports:
• More effective attachment and feeding
• Protection of milk supply
• Reduced stress for both baby and parents

Every baby is different, but learning your baby’s unique cues can make feeding feel more intuitive and connected.

MGP and continuity of care represent the gold standard in maternity practice for women and their families.

Hannah, Chris, Theo and Bernie warmly welcomed baby Frederick “Freddie,” with each family member playing a meaningful role throughout the journey. Their experience reflects the strength, connection and reassurance that continuity of care can foster, creating a positive and supportive environment for both parents and siblings.

A particularly touching gesture was Theo’s beautiful thank you card, filled with the most gorgeous drawings that captured and celebrated their family’s journey — a reminder of the lasting impact of care that extends beyond birth itself.

It has been a privilege to be part of their story, and we wish them every happiness as they are now discharged from the service and begin this next chapter together as a family 🤍

Thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you during such a special time.

💗Another beautiful discharge this week for Steph, Ewan and baby Maggie 💗

It has been such a privilege to care for this gorgeous family throughout pregnancy, birth and into the postnatal period. Maggie is thriving, and her parents are doing an incredible job as they settle into life together 🙌🏼
