As you may be aware, NSW Health is developing a Statewide Maternity Services Plan (the Plan) to guide maternity services across NSW over the next five to ten years and respond to the changing needs of our communities.

Thank you to those who have participated in the consultation sessions over the last few months. Your insights have been central to developing the Plan, identifying focus areas and shaping future actions.

A survey has now been developed to provide the opportunity for community members to share their feedback and help shape the future of public maternity services in NSW. The survey aims to gather feedback and ideas on the actions and objectives that will be established under each focus area. The survey is anonymous, will take 5-10 minutes, and is open until 20 September 2026.

We encourage you to share this survey with your networks, and to complete it yourself if you have experienced NSW Health public maternity services.

Complete the brief Have Your Say survey here. https://www.haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/maternity-services

The Statewide Maternity Services Plan is expected to be completed by December 2026.

Please accept our sincere thanks for your time and effort in participating in this process.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST - 3 Month Secondary Opportunity Registered Nurse

12/08/2026

When registered nurse Ellie accepted a winter strategy role, she was looking for something different.

Having previously worked in the post-anaesthetic care unit at Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital, Ellie wanted to broaden her clinical experience and explore nursing beyond the operating theatre. That decision led her to Inverell, where she joined the team in May as the winter strategy registered nurse.

Since relocating, Ellie has supported nursing teams across Inverell, Glen Innes and Tenterfield, working in community nursing and providing leave relief for cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services in Glen Innes.

For Ellie, the role has provided an opportunity to develop new skills while building connections with patients and colleagues in a community setting.

"I am really enjoying this new role, learning lots and loving the opportunity to meet community clients and work alongside such welcoming staff," Ellie said.

Ellie's experience highlights the value of flexible workforce initiatives that help strengthen rural and regional health services while creating new professional development opportunities for staff. Stay warm out there Ellie! 🥶

Our nurses, doctors and healthcare staff were incredibly touched to receive beautiful handwritten letters from the students at Glen Innes Public School in recognition of First Responders Day.

Your thoughtful words, kindness and support brought smiles to so many faces and reminded our team how much their work is appreciated.

A huge thank you to all of the students and teachers who took the time to create these special messages. Your generosity and encouragement mean more than you know. 🩷
