Our social media has been a little quiet lately.
Partly because I was sick. Partly because, I’ve been a little over social media.
As the millennial I am, social media has looked very different throughout my life.I remember a time before smartphones and social media (which sounds pretty nice sometimes). Then came MySpace, where the biggest decision was what song played on your profile and what wallpaper to choose. At uni it was Facebook, where we’d upload hundreds of blurry photos from road trips, random Tuesday nights and adventures with friends.
Now social media feels completely different.
There is so much access to education, inspiration and entertainment (seriously... why is watching someone frost a cake so satisfying?). But there is also more noise than ever before. Between influencers, AI-generated content and endless opinions, it can feel exhausting trying to work out what’s real, what’s helpful and what’s just another trend.
It also feels like we’ve never been more connected online, yet sometimes less connected in real life.
One of the things we don’t talk about enough when it comes to yoga, Pilates and strength classes isn’t just the physical or mental benefits, it’s the community.
My favourite part of Rhythm has never been classes or therapies we offer.
It’s watching people become friends.
It’s seeing clients stay after class for a cup of tea and a chat.
It’s instructors genuinely knowing what’s happening in people’s lives.
It’s celebrating wins together, supporting each other through tough times, and creating a space where people feel like they belong.
That kind of connection is becoming increasingly rare, and I think it’s something we all need a little more of.
So, after my long-winded explanation for disappearing from social media... if you’ve been craving genuine connection, we would love to welcome you into our community.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for your health isn’t another wellness trend.
Sometimes it’s simply finding people you’re happy to move, laugh and share a cup of tea with.
