There’s a conversation that happens in many long-term relationships without anybody really having it.
You love him.
You know he would quite like s*x.
You remember when it was spontaneous, pleasurable and considerably less complicated.
But now?
The lights are on, but nobody’s home.
Menopause can change far more than libido. Pain, dryness, tissue changes, UTIs, stress, nervous-system load, relationship expectations — and simply feeling different in your own body — can all become part of the story.
And perhaps the question isn’t:
“How do I get my old libido back?”
Perhaps it is:
“Who am I s*xually now?”
What feels safe?
What feels pleasurable?
What does intimacy look like now?
And can the person who loves me be curious enough to meet this version of me?
This month’s Pavona blog is a frank, compassionate look at s*x after menopause — with a little humour, because honestly, we need that too.
