“People don’t realise how much an EP can actually do.” - Emma 💚

Round four of You Can’t Ask That - EP Version with Emma and Ruby!

Emma sees patients managing chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease and osteoporosis. She sees people returning to sport after injury. She sees people who just want to move better and feel better in their bodies. And she also sees perfectly healthy people who simply aren’t exercising right now and want to do more.

Ruby’s point is one that often surprises people, you might come in for your knee, but if you also have diabetes? An EP can help with both.

You probably already know Jess, but do you know what she’s been up to lately?

Jess Fishburn is our Pelvic Health and Pain Physiotherapist, Director, and one of the people most responsible for making Gen Health Hamilton what it is today.

Jess is part of the fabric of our clinic, but the thing about Jess is she never stays still. She’s always learning, always adding to her scope, always finding the next course, the next qualification, the next area where she can do more for her patients.

This year she’s completing her Post Graduate Certificate in Conservative Management of Pelvic Organ Prolapse. Added to an already extraordinary list of qualifications in pelvic floor, persistent pain, bowel presentations, antenatal and postnatal care, trauma, birth choices, and more ... she is one of the most comprehensively trained pelvic health physiotherapists in regional Victoria.

Swipe through to read more about Jess, in and out of the clinic!

There’s a big difference between managing and actually living well. Sophie puts it perfectly this World OT Week:

➡️ Managing means using all your energy just to get through the essentials
➡️ Living well means doing the essentials more efficiently, so you have time and energy left over for the things you actually love.

The right routines, the right home environment, the right supports in place ... these aren’t things you put in place after a fall. They’re what help prevent one. And they’re what keep people living independently, actively, and connected to their community for longer.

Participation matters. 🫶

Happy World Occupational Therapy Day!

This year’s theme, Participation Matters, is a great reminder that Occupational Therapy is about more than what someone can or can’t do, it’s about helping people participate in the everyday things that matter to them.

We’re so lucky to have Occupational Therapists Sophie and Chrissy on our team, supporting people of all ages to build confidence, independence and participation in everyday life.

Today, we’re celebrating them and Occupational Therapists everywhere! Thank you for everything you do! 🌏💚

It’s OT Week 2026 and this year’s theme, Participation Matters, feels right at home here at Gen Health. 💚

It’s one of the most important ideas in occupational therapy, and one of the simplest. Being able to participate in life, in the things that matter to you, at home, at school, at work, in your community ...

Not just surviving the day, but living it.

That’s what Sophie and Chrissy come to work for each day. Whether they’re helping someone stay safely in their own home, supporting a child to engage at school, or helping an older adult get back to the social activities that bring them joy, participation is always the goal.

This week we’re celebrating OT, the people who practise it, and the difference it makes.

If you’ve been wondering whether OT might help you or someone you love, now is a great time to reach out: https://buff.ly/3gO4F5r

A physiotherapist who loves wildlife reserves, road trips, philosophy, and chops and potato! Meet Brian. 🧡

Brian holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Otago University in New Zealand, and has built a clinical approach around something we think makes for a genuinely great practitioner ... the ability to adapt and learn for each individual person on their own rehab journey.

What drew Brian to physiotherapy was the combination of meaningful work, constant learning, and being surrounded by colleagues who share the same purpose. He’s found all three at Gen Health Hamilton. 💚

Outside the clinic he’s on the golf course, out hiking when the weather cooperates, behind a camera, or somewhere in a good biography or philosophy book. He also has stories from wildlife reserves in Southern Africa that are worth asking about.

So glad you’re part of the team, Brian.
