Enhanced Lifestyles

Enhanced Lifestyles Disability support the way it should be. By you, for you. Adelaide, Riverland and Limestone Coast.

Over thirty years ago, a group of people living with disability realised that no one was better equipped to choose the kind of support they needed than themselves. Honing their knowledge and skills, together they became architects and builders of their own individualised disability services. Today, Enhanced Lifestyles remains a member-governed not-for-profit, our Board is comprised of people who u

se our services. By designing support services based on lived experience, we deliver the services people want to live life the way they choose.

πŸ“š Turning a Love of Reading into Positive Change

One of our customers, Kymberleigh, is taking part in the MS Readathon this August. An avid reader and passionate supporter of fundraising for good causes, Kymberleigh is combining her love of books with a commitment to making a difference.

This month, she's set herself a reading goal and will be diving into lots of amazing stories while raising funds to support families impacted by Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions.

As Kymberleigh explains:
"When you love reading, the everyday is anything but ordinary. Books can turn quiet moments into incredible adventures, introduce us to new perspectives, and take us places we've never been before."

If you'd like to support her fundraising efforts, we'd love for you to get involved.

πŸ“± Important Information: Australia-Wide AusAlert Test

Have you heard about AusAlert?
AusAlert is Australia's new national emergency warning system, designed to send important alerts directly to compatible mobile devices during emergencies such as bushfires, floods, cyclones, severe weather events, public health emergencies, and other significant incidents.

⚠️ National Test Alert – Monday 27 July 2026
As part of the national rollout, a test alert will be sent to compatible mobile devices across Australia on:
πŸ“… Monday 27 July 2026
πŸ•œ 1:30pm ACST (South Australia)

When the test occurs, your device may:
πŸ“³ Vibrate
πŸ”Š Play a loud siren-like warning sound for approximately 10 seconds
πŸ“± Display a message clearly identifying the alert as a test
βœ… You do not need to do anything when you receive the test alert. It is simply to ensure the system is working correctly before its official launch.

For some people, particularly those with sensory sensitivities, anxiety, PTSD, dementia, autism, or other disabilities, the alert may be unexpected or unsettling. We encourage EL staff and support workers who are supporting our customers on the day of the test to discuss the test ahead of time and prepare if needed.

If Enhanced Lifestyle customers, their families, carers, and Lifestyle Attendants have any questions or would like support understanding the upcoming AusAlert test, please contact our friendly team.

Refer to the AusAlert website for more information: https://www.ausalert.gov.au/

πŸ” What Makes a Good Goal?

Your NDIS goals play an important role in shaping the supports and services included in your plan. The more specific and meaningful your goals are, the easier it is to demonstrate progress and achieve positive outcomes.

Instead of saying:
❌ "I want to be more independent."
Try:
βœ… "I want to learn to how to catch public transport independently by the end of the year."

Specific goals can help:
βœ”οΈ Track your progress
βœ”οΈ Measure outcomes
βœ”οΈ Identify the right supports and future plan reviews
βœ”οΈ Build confidence and independence
βœ”οΈ Demonstrate growth and skill development

For participants in SIL, having clear goals is more important than ever. SIL funding is intended to support participants to build skills, increase independence, and work towards meaningful outcomes.

This means support workers play a vital role in not only supporting participants to achieve their goals but also documenting progress along the way and how the support relates to the participant's NDIS goals.

Whether your goal is using public transport, learning to cook, managing your daily routine, building social connections, or finding employment, every goal should be meaningful, measurable, and focused on the life you want to live.

πŸ‘‡ What's one goal you're currently working towards?

Celebrating 24 Years of Trust, Respect and Connection

For 24 years, one extraordinary partnership has reflected the heart of Enhanced Lifestyles.
Our Board Chair, Lousie Braybon (Lou), has been with Enhanced Lifestyles since its inception and is supported by one of our longest standing Lifestyle Attendants (aka Support Worker), Linda, for the last 24 years, building a relationship founded on trust, professionalism, respect and genuine connection.

β€œLinda helps me to live my life,” says Lou.

Through every stage of life, they’ve shared laughter, challenges and unwavering support.
Linda understands when something isn’t right before a word is spoken, while always ensuring Lou speaks for herself and remains at the centre of every decision.

β€œLinda is very professional and understands the difference between me at home, and out in the community, versus me in my capacity as Chair of the Board, which is very important,” Lou says.

Their story is a powerful reminder that great support is about partnership, dignity and empowering people to live the life they choose.

Thank you both for showing us what exceptional support truly looks like. πŸ’™
