The next community Grief Ritual is Saturday 20th June. The day before the longest night seems like an appropriate time to honour whatever grief is moving through us.

This is a pay-as-you-feel offering; because I care very, very, much about this being as accessible to everyone as possible. Get in touch with any questions.

Let me reach out my hand to the little girl child, nine years old, who spent her days in the liminal realms where dragons were real, and imagination was lifeblood. Let me reach out my hand and guide her through the turbulent years of forgetting, the heart ache of dismembering, and the chaos of learning to navigate … whatever this reality is. Let me reach out my hand and guide her through the ecstasy of learning, again, how to lie down on moss and listen to volcano-rock gnomes, speaking through my pen, my heart, my body. Let me reach out my hand and say, you are loved. You will always be loved. And one day - today - and all days to come, you will be welcomed with your faerie wings, and others will hear what you hear and be ecstatic too, to dance with lichen toes between.

🌿 A natural born performer and storyteller, we'll be joined by the incredbile Moran Wiesel for a Sunday afternoon of poetry this week to celebrate the release of their latest collection, Espiralled. Moran will be in conversation with Anne Kellas, one of Tasmania's most renowned poets, to devle into the scaredness of nature and break down barriers between the human form and the plant world around us. You can reserve your tickets on our website, over the phone or in store 🌿

Last weekend, at the Island Readers & Writers Festival (organised by Island magazine) I was part of many conversations around the contemporary state of poetry and publishing in so-called Australia. tl;dr - it’s dire.

OR, to re-frame slightly - there is very little money or institutional support for poetry publishing. So, it’s up to community, and passionate individuals.

Which makes me even more utterly humbled and grateful for Ralph Wessman, of Walleah Press, who heard something in my work that (literally) created the existence of this book.

Ralph is a tirelessly dedicated to poetry, and I keep hearing stories of how many people Ralph/Walleah Press have supported to bring their poetry collections into the world.

And, I think you'll agree that the physical book is a work of art in and of itself.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your work Ralph. It is a blessing and a gift to our communities.

P.S. - Walleah Press is currently accepting poetry manuscripts for publication, if you’ve got a collection sitting in your drawer!

Join my celebration of poetry next Sunday 14/6 2:30pm at my launch :D

I have no words to describe the absolute fractal of emotions for this moment.
Maybe by the launch next Sunday, I’ll have some more eloquence. Or at my radio interview on Monday (Radio Hobart, ~9pm).

The final poem in enspiralled - a soul’s breath is “the healing silence of water: for my mother, father, sister, Emerald Lake Falls, Turtle Island”.

Gather up this poem, and share it with loved ones.
You can order enspiralled - a soul’s breath now from my website, and come along to the Fullers Launch 14th June 2:30pm.

“let us gather up this bundle of leaves
and float it downstream to the currents of forever

a gift to all our generations to come

who will gather up our bundle of leaves
and breathe in the healing silence
of this exact moment”

Silver Words was (is) my first poetry home.

Why not make next week a nipaluna poetry-week – get along to their Open Mic + Ava Leary’s Guest Poet spot on Tuesday, go home be inspired, come to my Book Launch + Performance on Sunday 14th June Fullers Bookshop (go home, be inspired, become a poet, share your heart with the whole world)?!

I am honestly not sure whether I would have had the confidence to lean-into poetry with any commitment, if not for Silver Words. Just after the 2020 lockdowns, I decided, for the fun of it, to get along to an Open Mic. I don’t know if I had planned to share a little poem snippet, or not! But I do know that the room was small, intimate, and so, so, so welcoming to anyone and everyone coming along to share. So, I braved the microphone for the first time. The applause at the end, the rush of joy in myself at the end, the comments of appreciation afterwards…

I was hooked.

So I kept coming back, and each month pushing myself to explore this crazy craft.

Thanks Silver Words, for creating the ground bed of community appreciation and support that allows poets to realise we’ve always been poets!

When I say I offer "eco-somatic counselling", people often ask "what's that"? Fair question. The term/label is evolving and emerging, and has many possible definitions. But - I can share what sessions with me look like.

My focus is, always, on creating a space for you to become consciously present with whatever's arising within you.

I do this through practices which invite your body-knowing (the somatic), your creative, imaginative, and playful self, and by stepping into ceremony and ritual when called.

You are always held in infinite compassion, by me, and by the earth and spirit guardians which are always here and waiting to be asked.

DM/Comment if you have questions!

And you're always welcome to a 15min phone chat, if you'd like to meet and see whether these sessions resonate for you.
