In every community, there are people who quietly step forward when life becomes difficult.

The neighbour who drops off a meal.
The friend who makes the phone call.
The colleague who checks in weeks later when everyone else has returned to their routine.

Grief can feel isolating, but kindness has a way of reminding us that we are not alone.

Across Hobart and Southern Tasmania, we see these acts of care every day. They may seem small in the moment, yet they often become the memories families hold onto long after a farewell has passed.

A caring community is one of life’s greatest comforts. ❤️

In Hobart…community shows up.

In quiet conversations.
In shared stories.
In simply being there.

A service is more than a moment, it’s a space where people come together to support one another, to remember, and to reflect.

And sometimes… that togetherness is what carries us forward.

No two lives are the same.

And no farewell should be either.

From music…to stories…to the setting itself, every detail can reflect the person being remembered.

At Phillip Stephens Funerals, services are thoughtfully shaped around each life, ensuring every goodbye feels personal, meaningful, and true.

Because the way we say goodbye… should feel like them.

There’s no right way to grieve.

Some people talk.
Some stay quiet.
Some find comfort in memories…
others just take it one day at a time.

However it shows up, it’s valid.

Grief is simply love… finding a new place to go.

And you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Today we honour the mums who shaped our lives…and remain part of us always. ❤️

Grief doesn’t follow a schedule.

Some moments feel still.
Others feel overwhelming.

And in between…there’s a quiet need to just be.

At Phillip Stephens Funerals, families are met with care that isn’t rushed, space to think, to feel, and to honour a life in their own time.

Because in moments like these… gentleness matters most.

How blessed we were this week by the team of amazing volunteers at the Flower Room in Bathurst Street, Hobart, who were the providers of the fabulous blooms for a very special funeral service today.
The volunteers operate this amazing little shop of garden flowers, preserves, plants and knitted items, and bring a beautiful heartbeat of volunteer love to the heart of Hobart and to each person who enters their little shop.

A very big thank you from us at Phillip Stephens Funerals and the Jones family too. 🍃🍂🍁🌿

And thanks to the whole team at the Flower Room, especially these lovely ladies who were there today with smiles, Stella, Jenny and Sandra. 💓

Every life is made up of moments..the big ones, the quiet ones, and everything in between.

A meaningful farewell brings those moments together… through music, stories, and the people who mattered most.

At Phillip Stephens Funerals, each service is shaped around the individual, creating something that feels genuine, thoughtful, and true to the life being honoured.

Because a farewell should never feel standard… it should feel like them.
