11/09/2026

Yesterday, Kambu Health Social Health staff and members of our community came together for the Out of the Shadows Walk 2026 β€” creating a space for connection, reflection, remembrance and hope.

Throughout the walk, participants wrote messages of hope, strength and love on leaves, placing them among the trees, nooks and rocks as a reminder that our words can bring comfort and that no one has to face difficult times alone. Candles were also lit in remembrance of those we have lost to su***de, providing a moment to pause, honour their lives and hold their loved ones in our thoughts.

After the walk, we gathered together over a BBQ, sharing deep and thoughtful yarns and connecting with one another. These conversations opened up important discussions about su***de, the impacts it can have on individuals, families and communities, and the importance of checking in, reaching out and taking care of ourselves and each other.

Every conversation matters. Every connection matters. Every life matters.

Thank you to everyone who walked, shared, listened, remembered and helped create a safe space for these important conversations. Together, we can continue to bring hope out of the shadows and remind our community that you are not alone.

If you or someone you know is doing it tough, feeling overwhelmed, or needs someone to yarn with, support is available:
Lifeline Australia - 13 11 14
13YARN - 13 92 76

For counselling, emotional and wellbeing support, please call our Social Health on (07) 3810 3000 on option 2.

🌿✨ Pop-Up Playgroup at Cameron Park! ✨🌿

The team from Kambu Health Ipswich Children & Family Centre (CFC) had an absolute blast getting messy, exploring nature and enjoying lots of laughs with our little Jarjums last Friday!

Our morning kicked off with some messy play, with plenty to explore:
Chia seed slime with sea animals
Cocoa powder gloop with Australian animals
Colourful water play

After all that messy fun, we gathered on the mat for group time. We began with an Acknowledgement of Country, followed by the beautiful story All Around Us Sounds by Melanie Hava.

We then practiced Dadirri (Deep Listening) β€” taking some deep breaths, slowing down and listening carefully to the beautiful sounds of nature around us.

And of course, we couldn’t finish the morning without a sausage sizzle and fresh fruit for lunch!

A huge THANK YOU to all the families who joined us and helped make our pop-up playgroup such a special morning. We loved seeing everyone getting involved, getting messy and making memories together!

For more information about CFC playgroups and parenting programs, please contact the CFC team on (07) 3810 3010.

R U Ok? Day

If someone you know – a family member, someone from your community, a friend, neighbour, team mate or workmate – is doing it tough, they won’t always tell you. Sometimes it’s up to us to trust our gut instinct and ask someone who may be struggling with life β€œare you OK?”. By asking and listening, we can help those we care about feel more supported and connected, which can help them better manage life's ups and downs. It’s something we can all do by following a few simple steps.

Step 1- Ask R U OK? in your own way
Step 2- Listen with an open mind
Step 3- Encourage action
Step 4- Check in

If you’re feeling no good or need some extra support, yarning about how you’re feeling with someone you trust can help.

You can reach out to the Kambu Health team on (07) 3810 3000

Join Us Today!

In recognition of World Su***de Prevention Day, Kambu Health invites the community to come together for our Out of the Shadows Walk.

This free community event provides an opportunity to honour loved ones lost to su***de, support those who may be struggling, and raise awareness of mental health and su***de prevention.

Each year, more than 3,000 Australians lose their lives to su***de. Behind every number is a family member, friend, colleague, or loved one. By walking together, we remember those we have lost, stand alongside those who are hurting, and show that hope, connection, and compassion can make a difference.

The Kambu Social Health team invites community members to join us for a meaningful walk through the park. Along the way, participants will be invited to write the names of loved ones on paper leaves and place them on trees, creating a heartfelt memorial of remembrance, connection, and hope.

Following the walk, everyone is welcome to stay for a community yarn, a free BBQ, and tea and coffee as we come together in healing, support, and solidarity. Together, we can help reduce stigma, encourage conversations about mental health, and remind one another that no one has to face life's darkest moments alone.

Date: Thursday 10 September 2026
Time: 10:00am-12:00pm
