HBF Run for a Reason 2026 👟

40,000 participants and such an incredible community event to be part of.

Paul took on the Half Marathon and smashed his goal time, aiming for 1:50 and finishing in 1:48… a new PB! 🙌

“Couldn’t have asked for better conditions. A cold, crisp morning, the stars aligned and I felt great the whole run.

After last year’s Perth Marathon injury forced 2 months off running, rehab became the primary focus. Huge thanks to Jarrad at KPC for building a strength program centred around high load, low rep work through the hips, pelvis and lower limbs. It paid off massively with my legs feeling the strongest they’ve ever felt!

A different prep this year, with plenty of swimming over summer helping build the aerobic base. Maybe the lesson is finally sinking in… train smarter, not harder!!”

Congratulations on a fantastic run Paul. And well down to everyone else in our community who took part on the weekend 🏃🏻🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️

Karrinyup vs Marmion Golf Day ⛳️

What a day out on the course on Friday arvo! Plenty of great golf, good banter, and even better company all round.

Big moment of the arvo goes to Tom, who absolutely drained a monster putt to get Karrinyup across the line and secure the win 🙌 (last slide).

Couldn’t have asked for a better day. Well played by everyone involved!

PORT TO PUB 🏊🏼‍♂️🏊🏼‍♂️

Huge congratulations to Paul and Nick (friend of Paul and KPC patient) who completed the Port to Pub swim last Saturday, a 19.7km crossing from Leighton Beach to Rottnest, in an incredible 7 hours!!

After their original Rottnest swim was cancelled due to conditions, they regrouped and committed to Port to Pub, backed by consistent training and plenty of early mornings at Scarborough Pool.

With near perfect conditions on the day, they set off at 6:20am and reached Rottnest just after 1:20pm, an amazing effort.

A true team achievement, supported by Ash (skipper), Thomas (on-board support) and Adam (paddler, pictured).

Also a big well done to Linda and Michelle (pictured, Michelle is a physio), who trained alongside them and completed the crossing as part of a team of four.

Fantastic result all round 💙

Introducing Advanced Knee Care at Karrinyup Physio!

Advanced Knee Care is a dedicated service focused on the assessment and management of all knee conditions across the lifespan, with a particular interest in persistent, complex presentations and post-operative rehabilitation.

This includes:
• Knee osteoarthritis and long-standing pain
• Patellofemoral pain and instability
• Ligament, meniscal and cartilage injuries
• ACL rehabilitation and return-to-sport planning
• Post-operative rehabilitation (ACL, meniscus, cartilage)
• Knees that have not responded to previous treatment or require a second opinion

This service is built around a structured, data-informed approach, combining detailed clinical assessment with objective strength and functional testing to guide decision-making and progression throughout rehabilitation.

The aim is to provide patients with clarity around their diagnosis, measurable targets, and a defined pathway for recovery, particularly in cases where progress has stalled.

Advanced Knee Care is led by Nic Blackah, senior physiotherapist at Karrinyup Physio, with a clinical focus on knee rehabilitation.

Nic works closely with orthopaedic surgeons and sports physicians across Perth and is actively involved in ongoing research and the application of evidence-based rehabilitation, particularly in ACL and post-operative knee management.

He has experience managing a broad spectrum of knee presentations; from early osteoarthritis through to complex post-surgical and persistent cases, with a strong focus on guiding patients through structured, criteria based rehabilitation and return to activity.

His approach emphasises:
• Accurate diagnosis
• Objective measurement
• Progressive, individualised rehabilitation

On Tuesday, Nic Blackah delivered an education session to 30 physiotherapists from clinics across Perth on the practical use of force plates in private practice.

The session focused on how to integrate force plate testing into everyday clinical decision-making; improving exercise prescription, identifying meaningful asymmetries, understanding measurement error and using objective data to monitor rehabilitation progress.

Nic has a strong background in ACL rehabilitation and return-to-sport testing, with extensive experience in strength and performance assessment through his work in ACL research and at the POSM Performance Lab. His approach bridges high-performance testing with real-world clinical application for private practice physiotherapists.
