BreastScreen SA is coming to Keith!

The BreastScreen SA mobile screening unit will be visiting Keith from 12 November to 3 December 2026, offering free breast screening for women aged 40 and over, particularly those aged 50–74.

Breast screening takes just 15 minutes and can help detect breast cancer early, often before symptoms appear.

Keith Medical Centre patients may receive a recall reminder from our team encouraging them to book their breast screen if they are due.

Location: Keith and District Health Care car park, access via Carinya Crescent.

Welcoming Dr Shadrack Angwenyi to Keith Medical Centre!

We are pleased to welcome Dr Shadrack Angwenyi as our locum GP next week.

Dr Shadrack brings extensive experience in general practice and emergency medicine, with special interests in mental health, paediatrics, dermatology, respiratory medicine and chronic disease management.

He will be available for appointments from Tuesday 27 October to Friday 30 October, 9am to 5pm.

Whether you’re due for a health check, need a referral or have a health concern you’d like to discuss, appointments are available.

On Friday, we sadly farewelled Nurse Bethany from KMC. We’ve absolutely loved having her as part of our team and wish her all the very best as she continues to focus on her nursing roles within SA Health. Thank you for everything, Bethany!

Fasting for a blood test? Here’s what you need to know!

If you’ve been asked to fast before your blood test, a little preparation can help ensure accurate results.

Drink plenty of water! Staying well hydrated can make blood collection easier.

•Fast for 8–12 hours, or as directed by your doctor.
•Plain water is encouraged and does not break your fast.
•Avoid food, coffee, tea, juice and other drinks during your fasting period.
•Avoid chewing gum and smoking while fasting.
•Continue your usual medications unless advised otherwise by your doctor.

Remember, not all blood tests require fasting!

If you’re unsure if you need to fast, check with your doctor or our nursing team before your appointment
