Upper and middle back pain is very common. The graphic shows the location of pain depending on which facet joint is the source in the thoracic spine (mid-back). It is NOT always just a "knot in your back”.
If you are in doubt about what’s causing your back pain, osteopaths Luke and Nach are here to help you diagnose your pain and manage it with osteopathy, advice and therapeutic exercise.

Osteopathy focuses on the whole body to promote healing, improve mobility, circulation, and overall well-being.

Using a combination of traditional and modern healthcare philosophies, osteopaths use a variety of manual therapy techniques like muscle soft-tissue work, joint mobilisation or manipulation, stretching and exercises, combined with education and advice to support the body’s natural healing processes.

As university-trained and government-registered healthcare professionals, osteopaths take the time to understand your health history, lifestyle and body. They can diagnose musculoskeletal condition. They develop a tailored plan that includes hands-on treatment, advice and strategies to support your recovery, help manage pain effectively, and improve your overall well-being for the long term.

Do you have upper back or shoulder pain that just won’t go away? Maybe even tingling in the upper back or down the arm?

Are you constantly trying to “find” that knot between your shoulder blades—but it keeps coming back?

It might not be a knot at all.

You could be experiencing referred pain or radiculopathy coming from your neck and travelling into your upper back or shoulder. This type of pain often originates from structures like the facet joints or intervertebral discs—and treating it is very different from simply massaging a tight spot.

At our clinic, our osteopaths focus on providing an accurate diagnosis and a tailored management plan to help you address the real source of your pain.

Do you need a scan? If needed, we may refer you for imaging such as X-ray, CT scan, or MRI—but in most cases, it’s not necessary.

👉 Don’t keep chasing the knot—get to the cause.
