A Community Update from Dynamic Doctors
Hi everyone,
After todays Mandurah Communities Social Media post, we would like to take a moment to introduce ourselves properly and address some of the questions and conversations circulating on social media about Dynamic Doctors.
Shontel Peake and I, Dr Emma Marshall, became the owners of Dynamic Doctors on 1 July. The sale process moved quickly, and there has been a great deal to manage behind the scenes as we have worked through the transition, settled into our new roles and begun making improvements that we believe will benefit our patients and the wider community.
One of our priorities has been creating a dedicated health assessment room to better support the services we provide. We are also currently working through the clinic accreditation process, which is a significant and complex undertaking.
We appreciate that we have not been as visible on social media as some may have expected during this time. This has not been because we wish to distance ourselves from the community, but because much of our time and energy has been focused on ensuring the clinic continues to operate effectively while we work through these important changes.
We understand that people care deeply about their local medical clinic, and we respect that. We would like to clarify a few things and give everyone a better understanding of who we are and how the clinic operates.
A few important things we'd like our community to know:
1. We are local, family-owned business owners.
Before the sale, Dynamic Doctors was facing the prospect of being sold to a corporate organisation. We wanted to help retain local, independent ownership of the clinic. Shontel and I both have young families, live locally and have children attending local schools. We are part of this community, just like many of you.
We also choose to keep our children's identities and personal lives private on social media. We hope our community understands and respects this boundary.
2. We are committed to our team and the continuity of care.
We did not dismiss doctors or staff as part of the change in ownership. During the transition, all doctors were offered the opportunity to continue working at the clinic. Some staff members chose to pursue other opportunities, and we respect their right to make those decisions.
We recognise that changes within a medical practice can create uncertainty, and our priority remains supporting our team and providing ongoing care for our patients.
3. There have been no significant changes to our consultation fees.
The recent change relating to credit card payments arose from changes associated with the Reserve Bank of Australia's requirements around payment surcharges. We understand that costs matter to everyone, and we want to be transparent about any changes that affect our patients.
4. Dynamic Doctors has not historically operated as a fully bulk-billing clinic.
Our doctors have always worked as independent contractors and determine their own billing arrangements. The clinic publishes its consultation fees and concession rates on its website, and these arrangements have not changed as a result of the new ownership.
We encourage patients to check the published fees or speak with reception if they have any questions about consultation costs.
5. Access to appointments remains a priority.
As many of Dr Emma Marshall's patients know, demand for appointments has been high for some time, and there has historically been a waiting list. We are actively working to improve access wherever possible.
We have appointments available on the day with a number of our doctors throughout our operating week. However, if you prefer to see a particular doctor, there may be a longer wait. Our doctors are committed to providing quality care, but appointment availability is naturally limited by the time each doctor can safely and appropriately dedicate to their patients.
Our team is happy to help you explore the available options.
6. Please talk to us. Our door is open.
If you have questions about the clinic, our team, fees or changes under the new ownership, we genuinely encourage you to contact us directly. We are more than happy to have respectful conversations and clarify any concerns.
We recognise that social media can be a place where questions and concerns spread quickly, sometimes before all the facts are known. Rather than allowing misunderstandings to grow, we would much prefer the opportunity to speak with you directly.
We are still finding our feet as new owners, and we know that building trust takes time. Our immediate focus has been on maintaining the clinic, supporting our team, improving our facilities and continuing to care for our patients. We also intend to keep our community better informed as we move forward.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Dynamic Doctors through this transition. We appreciate how much this clinic means to the people who visit us, and we do not take that trust for granted.
We look forward to getting to know more of you, listening to your feedback and continuing to build a clinic that serves our community for years to come.
Warm regards,
Dr Emma Marshall and Shontel Peake
