Dr Nik has heard it constantly, from friends, family, and patients: no symptoms, so no need to test.

He’s also watched it go wrong more than once. Feeling fine and being fine aren’t always the same thing, some of the biggest risk factors don’t come with symptoms attached.

His response to the “I feel amazing” argument some restrictive diets lean on: plenty of things make people feel amazing short-term.

That’s not the same as being healthy.

Can you be fit and still have terrible blood results?

We asked Dr Nik from Everlab. His answer: more often than you’d think.

You can train hard, look fit and still have your health telling a very different story beneath the surface.

Maybe your diet isn’t great. Your sleep is compromised. You’re constantly stressed. Or you’re relying on exercise to compensate for everything else.

The mirror might not show it.

Your blood results can.

Because fitness and health aren’t always the same thing.

Looking fit is one thing. Knowing what’s happening beneath the surface is another.

Most sleep advice focuses on the bedroom.

Temperature. Mattress. Blackout curtains.

But there’s more to sleep than what happens once your head hits the pillow.

How you wind down psychologically can play an important role too. Meditation, breathwork, and starting your wind-down earlier than feels necessary can help signal to your body that the day is coming to an end.

The hardest part? Putting the phone down for the last hour before bed.

As Dr Steven says, even something as simple as reading to your kids can be a better way to wind down than scrolling.

It’s not just about optimising your bedroom. The hour before bed matters too.

Testosterone optimisation is a topic we get asked about a lot.

From training and nutrition to sleep, lifestyle and supplements, there are plenty of things that can play a role. But where should you actually start?

Dr Nik breaks down the biggest levers for testosterone optimisation and what you can do to start making meaningful changes.

A practical look at what matters, where to focus your attention, and why it’s not always about adding another supplement.

Are pilates and yoga enough?

Dr Eldi shares her view on where they fit into your training, and why strength training may deserve more of your time than you think.

Pilates and yoga absolutely have their place, especially for mobility, movement and mental wellbeing. But if building muscle and supporting bone density are the goal, they may not be enough on their own.

If you’ve got three hours a week to train, Dr Eldi says how you spend them really matters.

Sometimes, it’s not about doing more. It’s about making sure the training you’re doing is actually helping you build what you want to build.

The carnivore diet isn’t a proven treatment for autoimmune conditions.

But what happens when someone has severe symptoms, has tried multiple standard treatments, and is running out of options?

Our Everlab doctors discuss where a low-evidence approach like this might fit, when the potential risks are considered low, and why it’s not necessarily a long-term solution.

More isn’t always better.

Dr Nik Alexopoulos from Everlab breaks down what gym-goers often overlook about stress, and why training shouldn’t be viewed in isolation from the rest of your life.

Training, work, relationships and lack of sleep can all contribute to your overall stress load. So adding more activity isn’t always the answer.

Sometimes, doing less is exactly what your body needs.
