🧠 Could Strength Training Help Keep Your Brain Healthier for Longer? 💪

Emerging research from Queensland suggests that maintaining muscle strength and reducing frailty may play an important role in supporting brain health as we age. In fact, researchers are exploring whether regular strength training and healthy lifestyle habits could help delay the onset of dementia in some people.

While there's no single way to prevent dementia, we do know that staying physically active, eating well and maintaining muscle strength can have significant benefits for both your body and your brain.

At Rise Health Group, our Accredited Exercise Physiologists design safe, personalised strength programs to help you:
💙 Build and maintain muscle strength
💙 Improve balance and reduce your risk of falls
💙 Stay active and independent
💙 Support healthy ageing
💙 Improve your overall health and wellbeing

It's never too early—or too late—to invest in your future health.

💙 The power of a collaborative approach to athlete rehabilitation. 🏉

At Rise Health Group, we believe the best outcomes are achieved when our clinicians work together.

After experiencing a recurring hamstring injury, Dan from South Belgrave Football Club required more than just treatment—he needed a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to ensure he could safely return to playing the sport he loves.

As Head Physiotherapist at South Belgrave Football Club, Scott Pawsey led Dan's rehabilitation and sought the experience and knowledge of Rise Health Group's APA Sports Physiotherapist Stacey Cherry, to provide additional clinical input and help guide the management of this complex case. Working alongside Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Judd Francisco, the team developed a targeted rehabilitation program designed to restore strength, improve function, and prepare Dan for the demands of football.

As part of Dan's return-to-play process, we used advanced hamstring strength testing to objectively measure force output across a range of muscle lengths and positions. This allowed the team to identify any remaining deficits, tailor Dan's exercise program, and make informed decisions around progressing his running loads and ultimately his return to competition.

At Rise Health Group, objective testing, evidence-based rehabilitation, and collaboration between our clinicians means our athletes receive the highest standard of care. By combining the knowledge of our Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists, we're able to reduce the risk of re-injury and help athletes return to sport stronger, more confident, and ready to perform at their best.

Because getting back on the field isn't just about being pain-free—it's about being truly ready.

💙 National Diabetes Week | Nutrition Matters 💙

This National Diabetes Week, our Accredited Dietitian, Brooke, is highlighting the important role nutrition plays in both preventing and managing diabetes.

Food is one of the most powerful tools we have when it comes to managing blood glucose levels, supporting a healthy weight, and reducing the risk of long-term complications such as heart disease.

A balanced, nourishing diet can help you:

🥗 Support healthy blood glucose levels by choosing high-fibre, low GI carbohydrates that provide a slower, more sustained release of energy.

⚖️ Maintain a healthy weight, helping to improve insulin sensitivity and making it easier for your body to regulate blood glucose levels.

❤️ Protect your heart health by incorporating healthy fats, increasing fibre intake, and limiting foods high in saturated fat, trans fats, and excess salt.

The good news? Healthy eating doesn't have to be restrictive or overwhelming. Small, sustainable changes can make a significant difference over time.

Whether you've recently been diagnosed with diabetes, are living with pre-diabetes, or simply want to improve your overall health, Brooke can work with you to develop a personalised nutrition plan that fits your lifestyle, preferences, and goals.

This National Diabetes Week, take the opportunity to prioritise your health—because every positive choice counts.

💙 If you'd like support with your nutrition or diabetes management, get in touch with the team at Rise Health Group to book an appointment with Brooke.

💙 National Diabetes Week | 12–18 July 2026 💙

This National Diabetes Week, the team at Rise Health Group is proud to support Diabetes Australia's "Living Out Loud" campaign, raising awareness of the everyday experiences of the 2 million Australians living with diabetes.

Whether you're living with diabetes, supporting a loved one, or looking to reduce your risk, small lifestyle changes can make a big difference. Regular physical activity, healthy nutrition, and early detection are all key to improving long-term health and wellbeing.

At Rise Health Group, our experienced team of Physiotherapists, Accredited Exercise Physiologists, and Dietitians work together to help people manage diabetes through personalised exercise programs, education, and practical lifestyle strategies that support better health and confidence.

This week is a great reminder to:

💙 Support those living with diabetes

Together, we can help create healthier communities through movement, education, and early intervention.

Returning to play after a hamstring injury takes more than just feeling "good"—it requires objective testing to ensure an athlete is truly ready. 💪🏉

Here, Rise Physiotherapist Scott is working with Dan from South Belgrave Football Club, where Scott is the Head Physiotherapist, to assess Dan's hamstring strength using our advanced testing equipment.

By measuring force output through a range of muscle lengths and positions, we're able to identify any remaining strength deficits or imbalances that may increase the risk of re-injury. This information helps guide targeted rehabilitation, with exercises tailored to challenge the hamstring through different knee and hip positions.

Objective testing like this plays an important role in determining when an athlete is ready to safely return to high-speed running, training, and ultimately, competition.

At Rise Health Group, we're committed to using evidence-based assessment and rehabilitation to help athletes return to sport stronger, more confident, and ready to perform at their best.
