Still blaming your muscles for your lower back pain?

Your lumbar facet capsules could be the real culprit.

These small joints in your lower back help guide movement and provide stability. When the capsule surrounding the joint becomes irritated, restricted, or adhered, it can create pain that feels like it’s coming from the muscles.

Common signs include:

• Pain on one side of the lower back
• Stiffness first thing in the morning
• Pain with standing or walking for long periods
• Discomfort when arching backwards
• Pain that refers into the buttock, hip, or upper thigh

The problem? Many people spend months stretching, strengthening, massaging, and treating muscles that aren’t actually driving their symptoms.

At APS Melbourne, our assessment process is designed to identify the tissue responsible for your , whether that’s a facet capsule, adhesion, nerve, muscle, or another structure entirely.

If you’ve tried everything and still haven’t found answers, start with a complimentary virtual consultation.

We’ll discuss your symptoms, injury history, and determine whether our approach may be right for you.

I’d like to introduce you to Janet, one of our very first patients that came to see us when we opened 2 months ago..

For over 4 years, Janet couldn’t lift her arms past shoulder height.

Her 5 minute t’ai chi stance became 30 seconds… then less.

Not from lack of effort,
But because her body wouldn’t let her

When you start losing the things you love, it’s not just physical
It changes how you feel in yourself

Now she’s back
Back to movement
Back to her practice
Back to doing the things she loves!!

Janet, you’re a beautiful reminder to all of us of what life and longevity should feel like

Thank you Janet for trusting us at Adhesion Pain Solutions Melbourne 💙💚🤍 🙏

Let’s give Janet some love with a 💙💙💙

If lifting your arm out to the side doesn’t feel right, this is worth paying attention to.

abduction should feel smooth, controlled, and relatively effortless.
If it’s not, your body is telling you something.

You might notice:

• A sharp or pinching pain as you lift your arm
• A painful arc, often between 60–120°
• Tightness or pulling through the outer shoulder or upper arm
• A feeling of weakness or your arm giving way
• Compensation, like shrugging the shoulder or leaning your body to get the arm up
• that lingers after lowering your arm
• Limited range where you just can’t get it overhead comfortably

For a lot of people, this isn’t just a tight muscle.
It can be a specific structure not moving or tolerating load properly.

That’s where assessment matters.

At APS, we look at exactly what’s not moving well, treat it directly, and then retest so you can feel the change straight away.

If this movement feels familiar, it’s worth getting it properly assessed.

Comment “SHOULDER” below and I’ll send you more info or how to book a complimentary virtual consultation or connect you to the closest provider.

I’m hiring!!! BUT only if you’re serious about becoming a better clinician.

I’m looking for someone in the allied health space
(Remedial, Myotherapy, Physio, Chiropractic, Exercise Science)
to step into a Clinical Assistant role at APS Melbourne…
with the intention of growing into a practitioner.

You’ll be working with people in persistent, complex pain,
so curiosity, attention to detail, and genuine care matter more than experience alone.

This is for someone who:
• Wants to understand pain at a deeper level
• Values clinical reasoning over routine treatment
• Is ready to learn, be mentored, and grow

This is not a “just a job” role, it’s a life mission to help those in chronic pain.

It’s an opportunity to develop into a practitioner working with a very specific method of treating chronic pain.

If that resonates, reach out.
