Life can be hard. And sometimes we can all feel stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, sad, depressed or flat. On those days we can improve the way we feel by:
- Going outside in nature - appreciate the colours, marvel at grand trees that have been in this world for decades longer than you, feel the warmth of the sun, listen to the waves of the ocean, hear the songs of the birds, be mindful of the beautiful natural environment of the South Coast
- Move your body - walk, run, dance, cycle, swim, dip, lift, paddle or do anything for at least ten minutes
- Take a moment for gratitude and think of 3 things (big or small) that you are grateful for
- Connect - send a text or have a chat and connect with another human
- Have a big glass of water or eat a healthy meal - nourish your body from the inside
If these ideas don't help or you have these feelings every day or most days of the month, come and chat to a GP by phoning 4455 5755. Locally, psychologist Lara Walker runs a short "Foundations of Wellness" course which is proven to help improve mental well being.
If you feel you can't cope or you are having severe thoughts of depression, hopelessness or worthlessness, contact Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.
