We loved being part of the Health Industry Day. It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm, curiosity and engagement from all students. Thank you to all that were involved in the day, we enjoyed being apart of it.
Students from Chairo Christian School Drouin, Drouin Secondary College, Lavalla Catholic College, Marist-Sion College and Trafalgar High School recently participated in an immersive Health Industry Day (a component of the recent Health Camp) - gaining valuable firsthand experience across a range of healthcare settings.
The day began in aged care at Baptist Care - Heritage Manor Morwell, where Lifestyle Manager, Katie, introduced students to the many multidisciplinary roles within the sector and the vital role they play in supporting older members of our community. Students enjoyed connecting with residents, including the much-loved 'Juicy Lucy' and 'Hot Dot', whose morning chats were a definite highlight!
The learning journey then continued at Maryvale Private Hospital, where students were welcomed by the Clinical Educator, Sacha and healthcare team, for a hands-on introduction to life in a hospital setting. Students immersed themselves in practical activities including CPR and defibrillator training, infection prevention and control procedures, reading patient charts, and taking blood pressure using the same equipment and technology utilised by healthcare professionals every day.
Blake from Ambulance Victoria formed part of the day's rotations, giving students a unique behind the scenes look inside an operational ambulance. Students examined the specialised equipment used by paramedics, and gained a greater understanding of emergency response and patient care in real-world settings.
Thank-you to our partnering industries for putting on a great day! The students represented their schools with enthusiasm and curiosity, making the most of every opportunity to explore future careers in health.
