🖤💛 400 Games. One Club. One Tiger. 🖤💛
This Saturday, we celebrate one of the greatest servants of our club Gavin “Swanie” Swan as he runs out for his 400th and final game in the yellow and black.
After an incredible 26 seasons representing the Gormandale Football Netball Club, Swanie has decided it’s time to hang up the boots, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be remembered.
Swanie first pulled on a Tigers jumper in 2000 with our Thirds and has not missed a single season since. From day one, he has been the definition of loyalty, commitment and reliability.
A unique kicking style and an unwavering never give up attitude, Swanie has spent the majority of his career in the Reserves, where he has become one of the competition’s most respected players and leaders. Since 2012 up until 2025, he has captained the Reserves, leading by example every time he crossed the white line.
His list of achievements is remarkable:
🏆 2010 Reserves Premiership Player
🏅 2015 Reserves Best & Fairest
⭐ Life Member (2013) after reaching 200 club games
🏛️ Inducted into the GFNC Hall of Fame in 2025
👏 Reserves Runner-Up Best & Fairest (2023)
💪 Multiple Most Consistent, Most Determined, Coaches Award and Most Improved honours throughout his career, along with representing the NGFNL Under 18 Interleague team.
But Swanie’s contribution extends far beyond what he has achieved on the field.
He has always been one of the club’s first to put his hand up to help. Whether it’s chasing players during the week, assisting coaches, serving in the canteen before taking the field, or mentoring younger players, Swanie has embodied everything it means to be a Tiger. He has also served as Assistant Coach of both the Under 18s and the Reserves, helping shape the next generation of players.
His commitment, selflessness and love for the club earned him a place in the Gormandale Football Netball Club Hall of Fame in 2025, an honour that reflects the enormous impact he has had both on and off the field.
Even more special, the Swan name will continue around the club, with his daughter proudly representing the Tigers in our Under 17s.
This weekend isn’t just about celebrating 400 games. It’s about celebrating a man who has dedicated over two decades to our football club and has helped build the culture that makes Gormandale so special.
Congratulations Swanie on an extraordinary career. Thank you for every game, every word of encouragement, every hour volunteered, and every contribution you’ve made to this club.
400 games. 26 seasons. One club. A Tiger for life. 🖤💛
Be there on Saturday as we celebrate one of the true greats of the Gormandale Football Netball Club. 🐯
