We’re excited to share a short story accompanied with AAC modelling by our amazing Amie, demonstrating AAC use during picture‑book reading.

Modeling AAC while reading helps children see and hear language in multiple ways. This approach, known as aided language stimulation, supports vocabulary growth, builds confidence using their device, and shows them how AAC can be used for commenting, describing, and engaging in the story.

A simple routine like shared reading becomes a powerful opportunity for language learning.

We’re sharing a great resource today: the "Speak Up and Be Safe" communication boards. These AAC-friendly boards help non-speaking people communicate clearly in situations where they may need help, feel unsafe, or want to share important information.

They’re simple, visual, and easy to use across home, community, and support settings, a helpful tool for anyone who uses AAC.

Today, our amazing Caitlin wrapped up AAC training with the incredible Tenison Woods College team, and we couldn’t be more proud of their commitment to inclusive communication.

Every time we partner with educators who are eager to learn, model, and champion AAC, we take another step toward a community where every voice is heard.

At CBSP, we’re passionate about growing AAC knowledge across our region, and it’s inspiring to see schools like Tenison Poplars leading the way. We are excited to continue our work with Tenison Woods College as we build confidence, capability, and communication opportunities together.
