📣 UPCOMING COMMUNITY EVENTS IN NOVEMBER!

Our Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team has three exciting events coming up in November, and we'd love for you to join us!

All three events will be held at our headspace office, 1/2 West Street, Mount Isa.

Whether you're looking to connect with others, get involved in something new or simply come along for a yarn, everyone is welcome!

📢ATTENTION DOOMADGEE COMMUNITY

Gidgee Healing will be joining the Yellagundjimarra Health Council at the Doomadgee Gospel Church today from 11am to support the community with the upcoming transition of primary health care services from Gidgee Healing to Queensland Health.

Our team will be available to assist community members with completing Release of Information (ROI) forms to allow their medical records to be transferred to Queensland Health, as well as answer any questions about the upcoming transition.

We encourage community members to come along, have a yarn with our team and ask any questions they may have.

Social Worker Visiting Normanton 26th - 30th October 2026

Gidgee Healing’s Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Social Workers will be visiting our Normanton Clinic from Monday 26th October - Friday 30th October.

Our team is here to provide culturally safe, confidential support for community members who may need someone to talk to or assistance with a range of social and wellbeing concerns.

Support available includes:
• Emotional support & counselling
• Su***de prevention & aftercare
• Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) support
• Advocacy and referrals to services
• Help with housing, Centrelink and other supports
• Youth and family support

SNAKE AWARENESS!

With the warmer weather upon us, snakes are becoming more active in and around our communities.

Yesterday, a snake was spotted making its way underneath a staff member's vehicle at our Pioneer Clinic in Mount Isa.

We would like to remind everyone to take extra care when outdoors, particularly around car parks, gardens and areas with long grass.

• Be aware of your surroundings.
• Avoid walking through long grass.
• Never approach or attempt to move a snake.
• If you spot a snake, keep your distance and notify clinic staff.
• Check around and underneath vehicles.

Please stay alert and look out for one another as we head into the warmer months!

This month, the Gidgee Healing specialists will be visiting Normanton to deliver the following Allied Health services:
• Optometry – help with vision
• Physiotherapy - helping restore movement and function
• Dietitian - (healthy eating)
• Podiatry - helping with your feet

Come along to headspace Day 2026! 💚

Join us at the Family Fun Park from 3–6pm for an afternoon of music, free food, activities and good vibes! 🎶🍕✨

🎨 Explore the park circuit! Each local service will have their own station with fun activities for you to take part in while you discover what services and support are available in our community.

🎟️ Collect a stamp at each station, complete your headspace Day passport and go into the draw to win a prize!

❤️ World Heart Day at Gidgee Healing! ❤️

Join us this coming Tuesday, 29 September at our Burke Street Clinic for a free community event raising awareness about heart health and Rheumatic Heart Disease.

There’ll be activities for all ages, health education, guest speakers, a BBQ, prize packs and more!
