Setting out 10.30 Wednesday 26th August in the Noyea bus we took to the road with Adrian G driver and Peter S navigator.

Heading to the Ferry terminal at Victoria Point we enjoined the bushland and marveled at the development of housing, schools and shopping centres along the way.

On arrival we” walked the plank “ to catch the ferry (photo) for the 10 minute trip to the island of Coochiemudlo island.

On arrival we headed to the closest restaurant and when I mentioned Karen we were directed to the Island Beach Bar and Grill 200 m down the track.

Our hosts greeted us and were attentive to all our needs.

Lunch was delicious and the bushland setting added to the ambiance of the occasion as well as the birdlife that flitted about.

A little weary we returned to the boat and ferry trip back to Victoria point.

Our bus trip home ended with a rousing thankyou to Adrian whose attentiveness to our needs was heart warming and memorable.

Residents enjoyed the Freedom Train choir on Sunday with a good attendance. The choir entertained the audience with a variety of music including songs by Dolly Parton, John Farnham and Midnight Oil. The movements by the conductor were mesmerizing, followed by a scrumptious afternoon tea which was greatly appreciated.

Noyea Riverside Bowls Championship

This year we had 17 participants compete in the annual Bowls Championship. The draw pitted some closely suited competitors together. Over the course of a few weeks and some very close results, the 2 finalists, Roy S and Chris W contested the grand final on Sunday 23rd August. The game itself was keenly fought and enthralling to watch. Both players were worthy finalists producing some excellent bowls. The result went right down to the wire. Either player would have been a worthy victor. However, after 27 ends, Roy edged out Chris 26-22 after Chris had been leading for most of the game.

Congratulations to Roy and commiserations to Chris. Nobody deserved to lose this epic game.

A friendly reminder about the upcoming Australia-wide test of the new AusAlert emergency warning system.

On Monday, 27 July, compatible mobile devices across Australia will receive a test emergency alert. This is a planned national test designed to help ensure the system works effectively when it is needed in a real emergency.

When the test alert is received, your mobile device may vibrate, play a loud siren-like tone and display a message clearly identifying the alert as a test. While the sound may be unexpected, there is no cause for concern.

The test alert is scheduled for:
2.00 pm (AEST) in Queensland and New South Wales
1.30 pm (ACST) in South Australia

You do not need to do anything when you receive this test alert.

AusAlert will become Australia's new emergency warning system and, in a real emergency, will be used to share important information about events such as bushfires, floods and other significant incidents.

If you have any questions or concerns about the test, please speak with the Village Office or visit https://www.ausalert.gov.au/alerts-explained/national-test for more information.
