What does vestibular testing actually look like?

In this assessment, Physio Kar checks how the eyes and balance system are working together using tests like nystagmus with gaze and convergence testing.

These tests can help us understand how your symptoms respond to eye movement, focus, position changes and visual demand.

Vestibular symptoms aren’t always just “dizziness” — they can also feel like:
Nausea
Room spinning
Pressure behind the eyes
Double vision
Trouble focusing
Feeling off-balance
Visual discomfort

The goal of a vestibular assessment is to understand what may be driving your symptoms, so the right plan can be made.

Knee tape helped your stairs feel better?

That can be a great short-term deload — but long term, your knee needs strength, control and confidence.

This slow step-down drill is a great place to start.
The goal isn’t speed. It’s control.

Keep your foot flat, hips level, and knee tracking over your middle toes as you slowly lower down, tap the opposite heel, then push back up.
Start with 2 sets of 6 each side.
Stop if you feel sharp pain, swelling, or your knee giving way — and get your knee assessed.

Save this for your next knee session.

Is it just post-workout soreness… or is your body trying to tell you something?

DOMS — delayed onset muscle soreness — is common after a new or harder training session.

It usually:
kicks in 24–48 hours later
feels dull, tight or achy
eases as you warm up
settles within a few days

But not all pain is “normal soreness.”
Sharp, grabbing or pinpoint pain, swelling, weakness, limping, pain that gets worse with loading, or pain that affects your training and daily life should not be ignored.
Pain is not progress.
Smart recovery wins.

At Fighting Fit Physiotherapy, we help you understand what your body is telling you, recover properly, and get back to training with confidence.

Not sure if it is DOMS or an injury?
Get it checked early.

First-step heel pain? Don’t ignore it.

If your heel feels sharp when you get out of bed, settles as you move, then flares again after standing, training or sitting for too long — it could be plantar fasciitis.

This is not something you want to “just push through.”
The longer your foot keeps getting irritated, the harder it can be to settle.

At Fighting Fit Physiotherapy, we assess what is driving your heel pain — not just where it hurts.
We look at your foot strength, calf load, footwear, walking pattern, training demands and recovery so you can get back to moving without that first-step fear.
Don’t wait until it becomes chronic.
Get it checked.
Get a plan.
Get back to moving.

“I wish I’d come in sooner.”

It’s one of the most common things we hear at reception after someone finally gets their pain, injury or movement issue checked.

Most people spend weeks trying to manage it themselves — Googling symptoms, ignoring the pain, hoping it disappears, or waiting until it starts affecting training, work or everyday life.

But getting help early can make a big difference.

If something has been bothering you and you’ve been putting it off, this is your sign to stop guessing and get it assessed.

Send us a message and let’s figure out what’s going on — so we can help you stay Fighting Fit.

Trying to lose weight?
Then stop and ask yourself this 👇
Are you actually eating enough?

Most people think fat loss is all about cutting calories harder and harder.
But eventually that strategy can backfire.
🚩 Energy drops
🚩 Recovery suffers
🚩 Training quality declines
🚩 Progress stalls

The goal isn’t to starve your body.
The goal is to fuel it properly so it can perform, recover, and burn energy efficiently.

That’s exactly what we break down in this week’s blog.
👉 Read it before cutting more calories.

If this feels personal… it probably is. 🫷🏻

Brad’s sharing 3 common gym habits that can put extra stress on your shoulders:
Letting your ego choose the weight
Skipping your warm-up
Only training what you feel like training

If you want stronger, healthier shoulders, the basics matter. ✊🏻

Warm up properly. 🤸‍♂️
Lift with control. 🏋️
Choose a weight you can actually move well. 🦾
And don’t skip the work your body needs. 🦵🏻

Train smarter, move better, and look after your shoulders in the gym. 💪🏻

Heel pain first thing in the morning? Your shoes might be part of the problem. 🥾

Plantar fasciitis can become irritated when your foot is constantly under-supported, especially during long walks, work shifts, training, or even walking barefoot around the house on hard floors. 🦶

The right footwear will not magically fix everything, but it can make every step easier while your foot settles.
Look for:
support through the arch
cushioning under the heel
a secure fit through the heel and midfoot
enough room for your toes
a sole that is not completely flat or floppy
And if your runners are worn out, your feet will usually feel it before you notice it.
Heel pain does not have to run your day.

At Fighting Fit Physiotherapy, we assess what is driving your pain, guide your footwear choices, and build a plan to get you walking, training, and moving comfortably again. 👣
