Core Health Consulting

Core Health Consulting Core Health Consulting helps to transform physical, mental & emotional wellness.

We work with individuals & workplaces to deliver engaging & effective courses, health promotion programs and consultation services including Mental Health First Aid Courses. If you’re looking for practical solutions to health, nutrition and fitness at work, you’ve come to the right place. At Core Health Consulting we have a range of health promotion programs to suit your business and budget – and they work! Before founding Core Health Consulting in 2007, Tammy Farrell spent 10 years working in intensive care and cardiac cath labs as a registered nurse. Working in those environments it was clear that many people simply didn’t understand how their bodies worked. Patients were arriving in intensive care after months of suffering symptoms that could have been managed much earlier. After the sudden death of a friend Tammy quit nursing and began educating people and businesses about health and wellness. Since then we’ve helped thousands of employees take action, seek help and regain their health through a range of health promotion programs that really work. We are passionate about health and wellness education and would love to help your workplace become healthier too, so, give us a call today on 1300 663 062 and let Core Health Consulting help your workplace become fitter, healthier and more productive!

Mobile work is not easy… isolation, fatigue, long swings, pressure. You need tools that work in the real world, not just on paper.

Feedback I’ve received from teams: “I don’t normally put much stake in these types of courses… but this really resonated with me. I began to associate the concepts to my personal and family life more than just the workplace.”

That’s when you know it’s landed.

When a mobile worker can see how it helps in their everyday life.

When a supervisor realises early intervention prevents bigger issues.

When the room feels safe enough for people to speak honestly.

FIFOM8 is built for that.

If you’re a mobile worker, supervisor, WHS, HR or site manager, this is for you.

When employees are unwell, exhausted, or stressed, performance and safety take a hit. Under today’s WHS Code of Practice, leaders have a clear duty to address psychosocial hazards like fatigue, stress and low support... not just tick the box with an EAP.

That’s where Core Health Consulting helps.

We deliver Mental Health First Aid training, fatigue management programs, resilience training and tailored wellbeing sessions that give workers the knowledge and confidence to look after themselves and their mates.

Leaders gain practical tools to prevent risks, strengthen teams, and meet compliance obligations with confidence.

For us, success is more than information shared.

It’s when knowledge turns into action: workers speak up early, colleagues support each other, and businesses see lasting results in safety, culture, and productivity.

What’s one step your workplace has taken to improve health at work?

FIFO Ma8 was designed for industries that never stop moving - where one crew is on night shift in Newman, another is driving between towns, and another is working remotely for weeks at a time.

Every site, every roster, every team deserves the same standard of care.

The program keeps training consistent, connected, and compliant no matter where your people are. Public course options make it easy for individuals or small teams to join, while in-house delivery allows you to tailor sessions around operational needs and rosters.

Leaders can track progress across sites and ensure everyone receives the same message: mental health and safety are not optional extras, they’re part of the job.

When communication and culture stay aligned, workers know what to look for, how to respond, and who has their back - wherever the work takes them.

Start planning your FIFO Ma8 rollout now.

If Mental Health First Aid has been sitting on your organisation’s training list, now is the time to get it booked.

By this point in the year, crews are often carrying months of high workload, long hours and fatigue. Patience can get shorter, tension can build and mistakes or shortcuts can start creeping in.

Mental Health First Aid gives people practical skills to recognise when someone may be struggling, have a direct conversation and respond appropriately.

For businesses in mining, construction and trades, it is practical workplace mental health training that supports your people while strengthening safety and compliance.

Final 2026 dates:

➡️ Full courses: 30 September - 1 October | 7–8 December

➡️ Refreshers: 21 October | 3 December

I'm here every Friday afternoon, watching the boys become a team.

I know it’s “just a game,” but I also see them doing more than just play. They’re learning to communicate when they're frustrated, and to recover from a bad call without falling apart. They learn when it’s their turn to step up or to step back, because being on a team means you can't go it alone.

That’s also how they learn to trust each other over time, so when a critical play happens their actions become automatic.

I see similar dynamics on mine sites and construction crews. Breakdowns happen when that trust isn't there, while performance and safety improve when it is.

Resilient teams aren't built spontaneously in a moment of crisis. You have to invest in them through daily habits, check-ins, and a willingness to notice when the person next to you isn't quite right.

That's exactly what I help workplaces build.

These two were not mucking around. This was their first day off in 7 weeks.

And they travelled from Victoria to complete Mental Health First Aid training with me.

A few months earlier, they called from South Australia. They work in a niche electrical space and wanted better ways to support mates travelling across varied locations for work.

That conversation stayed with me.

People who work away can spend weeks moving between sites, shifts and accommodation. Their mates often see the changes first.

These two chose to step up, get trained and take practical support back into their industry. I was so pleased to give them each a copy of my book before they headed home.

Welcome to FIFO Ma8 boys. Your crew is lucky to have you.

One of the most important workplace safety conversations in the Hunter this year is happening in Singleton on 22 September.

Patrizia Cassaniti OAM, founder of Touched by Christopher, will share the lived experience behind her work in workplace safety.

Her son Christopher was killed in a workplace scaffolding incident. Her story stays with you — and it gives leaders a far deeper understanding of what safety looks like when it matters most.

From 8am–9am, Patrizia will speak with local business owners, managers, supervisors and team leaders.

Then we begin the Resilience First Aid Responder Course.

Day 1: 22 September, 9am–4pm

Day 2: 29 September, 9am–4pm

If you lead people in the Hunter, this is one to make time for.

I notice team dynamics everywhere I go, and on a recent cruise, the morning waitstaff left a big impression on me.

It was clear this team worked hard, communicated clearly, and respected each other. They brought genuine warmth to every table, even when pressure was obvious. The standard always stayed high, despite any tension.

I also spoke with them about being away from family for months at a time. They missed their kids, their homes, and there was real sacrifice behind the smiles, despite accepting those things as a reality of the job.

It was amazing the relationship and connection we formed with our waitstaff.

By the last day, tears were shed saying goodbye, and it wasn’t because they followed some perfect service script. This was a product of people who felt connected to the work, trusting of their team, and proud of what they do. It came across in everything we experienced on board.

For me, this reenforced the fact that every workplace has the opportunity to build a culture that supports workers, and benefits alongside them because of it.

Is this kind of culture visible on your worksite? How are you supporting your workers so they can perform at their best?

Reach out if you need help building a more resilient team.

You finish shift, have a quick call home, then wake up and do it all again. For remote workers, that can be life for weeks.

And it’s not just FIFO. Rail crews working remote lines, construction teams living away from home, mine-site workers and regional trades crews can all be a long way from family, routine and the people who would normally notice when something is off.

The job still needs doing. The roster still runs. But fatigue builds, patience gets shorter and concentration drops.

FIFOMa8 was built for that reality.

It’s a practical programme for isolated workforces, combining resilience training, Mental Health First Aid, fatigue management and ongoing peer support. Not just training for one day, but tools and check-ins that help crews look out for themselves and each other across the swing.

I've asked this question in front of a lot of crews.

"Would you know if one of your people was struggling?"

They genuinely think they would. They've worked next to the same people for years. They know who takes their coffee black and whose wife just had a baby.

Then I ask what it actually looks like when someone's not coping, and the room goes quiet.

That's the gap. Not a lack of caring, just nobody ever taught them what to look for or what to say next.

Mental Health First Aid closes that gap. It's practical, and it's built for people who'd rather be back on the tools than sitting in a workshop.
