Yesterday I shared why taking bigger breaths isn’t always the answer when you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed.
Today, let’s make it practical.
For the next 30 seconds, try this:
- Breathe through your nose.
- Let your shoulders soften.
- Relax your jaw.
- Allow your breath to become a little quieter.
- Reduce the effort by just 5%.
Notice that I didn’t say breathe deeper.
I didn’t say fill your lungs completely.
I didn’t say force a long exhale.
Just soften.
Many of us spend our days rushing, bracing, and pushing through. Our breathing often reflects that.
Learning to notice and gently reduce unnecessary effort is one of the simplest ways to support your nervous system
throughout the day.
This is what building a breathing toolkit looks like.
Not complicated techniques.
Simple skills that you can use in real life when stress, pressure, or overwhelm show up.
Try it and let me know what you notice.
