Does your child often sit with their mouth open?
An open mouth posture isn’t always “just a habit.” It can be a sign that breathing through the nose is difficult.
Healthy breathing starts with:
✔️ Lips gently together
✔️ Tongue resting on the roof of the mouth
✔️ Nasal breathing
When a child consistently breathes through their mouth, it may influence their sleep, facial growth, oral development and overall wellbeing.
When appropriate, collaboration with other health professionals may be necessary. Airway health is a team effort, and the best outcomes come from a collaborative approach.
If you have any concerns about your child’s breathing or development, send us a DM or leave a comment below. We’d love to help.
