The Culture Care Connect team are excited to announce that Balladoran Culture Group is back on for 2026.

This as a valuable Culture on Country experience and we are extremely lucky to be guided by two knowledgeable Elders, Uncle Ralph Naden and Aunty Iris Reid.
While at Balladoran, we engage in a range of cultural activities including men’s and women’s business. Please note there is no fixed agenda on these days, so the experience may vary depending on what is being shared.

Today, OAMS honours the life and legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo, a Torres Strait Islander man from Mer Island who challenged the legal doctrine that his people’s traditional land belonged to the Crown. His efforts led to the Mabo v Queensland (No 2) decision in 1992, which overturned the colonial concept of terra nullius, meaning “nobody’s land,” that had been used to justify British claims over Australia.

OAMIES Rebecca, Tara, Whitney and Jaymi attended the Women's Legal Service training session held at CSU in Bathurst last week. The Women's Legal Service NSW provides free, trauma informed legal advice to women in NSW. They advocate for gender equality and a fair legal system and have been travelling around NSW giving women free legal advice for over 40 years.

The program, Your Knowledge, Her Safety: Legal education to support women's safety at home, work and online included sessions on tech-facilitated abuse such as AI and image-based abuse, domestic violence and ADVOs, tech and financial safety planning, sexual harassment at work, workplace rights and the Victims Support Scheme.
