We believe in lifelong development and continued professional development so Khatija is excited to extend her understanding of a systematic framework behind tinnitus. Comment below if you get it, what it sounds like and also what youโ€™re doing this long weekend.

Did you know hearing loss can actually tire your brain out? ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ‘‚
When hearing becomes harder, your brain starts working overtime trying to โ€œfill in the gapsโ€ during conversations.

That extra effort can lead to:
โ€ข Mental exhaustion
โ€ข Difficulty concentrating
โ€ข Social withdrawal
โ€ข Feeling overwhelmed in noisy places

Many people donโ€™t realise theyโ€™re struggling with hearing until they notice how draining everyday conversations have become.

Hearing well isnโ€™t just about sound.
Itโ€™s about staying connected, confident, and mentally engaged. ๐Ÿ’™

Fun Fact Friday!
Some of our strongest memories are connected to sound. ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ’™

A favourite song, a loved one's voice, the laughter of grandchildren, or the sound of waves at the beach can instantly transport us back in time.

Hearing isn't just about sound โ€” it's about staying connected to the moments that matter most.

Today's Resilience & Reinvention featured author is Khatija Halabi! โœจ

Khatija is an audiologist, speaker, community builder and advocate whose lifeโ€™s work is grounded in one powerful belief: empowerment happens through connection. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, she migrated to regional Victoria more than two decades ago, bringing with her both professional expertise and a deep understanding of what it means to rebuild identity, belonging and purpose in a new country. What began as a journey marked by uncertainty and a fear of public speaking has evolved into a powerful story of resilience and reinvention. Today, Khatija is recognised for her work in multicultural leadership, womenโ€™s empowerment, social cohesion and hearing health, using her voice to create spaces where others feel seen, heard and valued.

With more than 20 years of experience in audiology, Khatija is the founder of Casey Hearing, a values-driven practice dedicated to helping people of all backgrounds and hearing abilities fully participate in life. Beyond healthcare, she supports migrant women and women in business by fostering connection across cultures and industries. Her contribution to community leadership and migrant empowerment has been recognised through her Women Changing the World Awards for Migrant Leadership. At her core, Khatija is a mother raising empowered daughters, a migrant who honours both her heritage and adopted home, and a woman committed to restoring hearing, confidence and voice - one person, one story and one connection at a time.

Global Accessibility Awareness Day - Not everyone struggling to hear looks like they are.

Sometimes itโ€™s the person smiling and nodding in conversation.
Sometimes itโ€™s the family member who suddenly seems โ€œquietโ€.
Sometimes itโ€™s the friend who stops going out because noisy places feel exhausting.

Hearing loss isnโ€™t always about volume.
Often, itโ€™s about connection.

This Global Accessibility Awareness Day, weโ€™re reminding people that small changes can make a big difference:
๐Ÿ‘‚ Face the person when speaking
๐Ÿ‘‚ Reduce background noise where possible
๐Ÿ‘‚ Be patient in conversations
๐Ÿ‘‚ Encourage hearing checks early

Because everyone deserves to feel included in the conversation. ๐Ÿ’™

If hearing has been feeling harder lately, donโ€™t ignore the signs.

๐ŸŒŸ National Volunteer Week | 18โ€“24 May 2026 ๐ŸŒŸ
This week, we celebrate the people who quietly make communities stronger every single day โ€” our volunteers. ๐Ÿ’™

The 2026 theme, โ€œYour Year to Volunteer,โ€ is a reminder that even small acts of kindness, support and connection can make a lasting impact.

At Casey Hearing, we know connection matters.
Whether itโ€™s helping someone feel heard, included in conversation, or supported through difficult moments โ€” volunteers help create communities where people truly belong.

To every volunteer giving their time, compassion and energy to others:
THANK YOU.

Your kindness changes lives more than you probably realise. ๐Ÿ‘‚๐Ÿ’™

Did you know hearing loss can actually be exhausting?
When hearing becomes harder, your brain has to work overtime to fill in the gaps.
That extra effort can lead to:
โ€ข Mental fatigue
โ€ข Trouble concentrating
โ€ข Feeling drained after social events
โ€ข Avoiding noisy environments altogether

Many people think theyโ€™re โ€œjust tiredโ€ โ€” when their hearing may actually be playing a role.
Good hearing helps keep us connected, confident, and involved in everyday life. ๐Ÿ’™
If conversations are becoming harder work, it might be time for a hearing check.
