🌿 Letters from Shirley Pearl and Her Bush Friends 🦋

Our Kinder children have been continuing their journey of learning about Aboriginal culture through Shirley Pearl's engaging program, exploring Australian animals, traditions, stories and connections to Country.

This month, we explored the Dingo and its connection to Aboriginal culture. We then extended our learning by discovering traditional Aboriginal symbols, focusing on the waterhole symbol and its connection to dragonflies and wetlands.

The children expressed their learning through a creative painting experience, incorporating waterhole symbols into their dragonfly artwork.

A wonderful opportunity to build cultural understanding, curiosity and respect for First Nations perspectives. 💛

🍂 Yellow Room – Community Walk Take Two! 🌼

The Yellow Room children headed out into the community for another wonderful walk, but this time they had a special mission: to collect natural resources to bring back into the room for future learning experiences!

Along the way, the children explored their surroundings, collecting leaves, flowers and other natural treasures. They shared their thoughts and observations, discussing the different colours, shapes and textures they discovered in nature. 🌿

Our walk also took an exciting turn when the children noticed houses decorated for Halloween! 🎃 This sparked a whole new conversation, with the children showing curiosity and interest in the spooky decorations they spotted along the way.

It was lovely to see how a simple community walk created so many opportunities for learning, discovery and conversation. The children were building their observation skills, developing language, sharing ideas and making connections with the world around them.

Now, we can't wait to see how the children use their collected natural resources to inspire new investigations, creative experiences and meaningful learning back in the Yellow Room! 🍃✨

🌼🐝 Yellow Room – Little Explorers, Big Discoveries! 🌿☀️

The Yellow Room children enjoyed a beautiful sunny walk, exploring the world around them and discovering the beauty of nature! 🌸

Along the way, the children stopped to investigate the different types of flowers, noticing their beautiful colours, shapes and sizes. They were fascinated by the bees buzzing around the flowers, creating wonderful opportunities to talk about insects, plants and how bees help our environment. 🐝🌺

Our little explorers were developing their curiosity, observation skills and language as they shared their discoveries and began making connections with the natural world. These simple, everyday experiences encourage children to ask questions, think critically and learn through hands-on exploration.

🌱 Learning through nature: Our walk supported the children’s physical development, communication skills, confidence and growing understanding of the world around them. Most importantly, it gave them the time and freedom to follow their interests, wonder about what they could see and learn together.

We love seeing where the children’s curiosity takes us! 💛

Last week the aqua children enjoyed an exciting adventure outdoors as we headed for a walk around the block with our umbrellas, embracing the wet weather and discovering what was happening in our local environment.

Along the way, the children showed curiosity as they spotted different insects and bugs. Using magnifying glasses, they had the opportunity to look closely at the little creatures, observe their features and explore the natural world around them.

During our walk, we also spotted the rubbish truck, which sparked further conversations about rubbish, recycling and how we can care for our environment. The children were encouraged to share their thoughts, ask questions and make connections between what they see in their everyday lives and how we can help look after our planet.

During the school holidays some of our 4 year old Kindergarten children went for a walk to one of our local cafe Mocha Mojo Cafe at the The Heritage Shopping Centre.

As the children walked through the community they made observations of what they could see and hear. The children safely crossed the roads between Hippity Hop and Heritage shopping centre, holding discussions about road safety.

The children demonstrated confidence and enjoyment as they ordered their babycinos and paid at the café. For some of the children this was their first babycino and visit to our local café and for others this was something they do often.

✨ Thank you to Mocha Mojo for making the children feel so welcome and special during their visit!
