🚨 Don't be alarmed if your phone makes a loud siren sound today! 🚨

Today, Monday 27 July 2026, Australia will conduct a national test of the new AusAlert emergency warning system ahead of its official launch in October.

📱 The test will be a Critical Alert, meaning it will:
✅ Override Silent and Do Not Disturb settings.
✅ Sound a loud siren for around 10 seconds.
✅ Display an emergency alert notification on your screen.
✅ Be received by compatible mobile devices across Australia.

⏰ Expected test times:

🇦🇺 Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania & ACT (AEST): 2:00 PM
🇸🇦 South Australia & Northern Territory (ACST): 1:30 PM
🇦🇺 Western Australia (AWST): 12:00 PM

This is only a test. No action is required.

The new AusAlert system will provide critical information during emergencies such as bushfires, floods, cyclones and other life-threatening events, helping keep Australians safe.

If you do not wish to receive the test alert, you'll need to switch your phone off or place it in aeroplane mode before the test begins in your state and leave it that way for at least one hour.
