Living with dementia affects the whole family, not just the person diagnosed.

Our Occupational Therapists work just as closely with carers as they do with clients, helping explain what's happening, improving day to day communication, developing routines that work for everyone, supporting behaviour changes as they happen, reducing carer stress and planning ahead for what's next.

Supporting the carer supports the person living with dementia too.

If you're caring for someone and need support, our team is here to help.

Come along for a day in the life of Sharon, one of our Senior Speech Pathologists and Clinical Consultants! 📍

Between peer reviews, client sessions, and a very essential team pizza lunch, her days are full of connection and clinical support.

We are also expanding our team and looking for an energetic Speech Clinical Consultant and Speech Pathology Graduate to join us! 💛

If you are ready for a role with great mentoring and clear career pathways, tap the link to apply today.

Dementia is not a normal part of ageing.

Recognising the early signs can be difficult, especially when the changes happen gradually.

A few signs worth paying attention to:

📌 Subtle memory shifts, like misplacing keys in unusual places or repeating the same question
📌 Difficulty with familiar tasks, like following a well-loved recipe or a usual driving route
📌 Confusion with time or place, like losing track of the date or time of day
📌 Changes in mood or behaviour, like new anxiety, irritability, or withdrawing from favourite activities

If any of this sounds familiar, it's worth having a conversation with a GP or allied health professional. Early support can make a real difference.

Last week, our Occupational Therapists Jeannie and Jeannette partnered with the City of Subiaco to present Living Well with Dementia, as part of Dementia Action Week.

A common assumption is that OT is mostly about equipment and home modifications. The session explored what that support really looks like in practice, understanding daily routines, adapting environments, and helping people stay connected to the activities that matter most to them.

Thank you to City of Subiaco for partnering with us on the day, and to everyone who came along.

Meet Alex 🏀

A former basketball coach, Alex lives with POEMS syndrome, a rare and progressive neurological condition that causes chronic nerve damage. He started physiotherapy with our Bella Vista team in August 2025, relying on a four-wheeled walker with limited access to his community.

A year on, Alex walks long distances, is rebuilding his running ability, and commutes independently to work using orthoses and a walking stick. He was also the first client one of our team supported through an NDIS application, a milestone that means a lot to all of us.

To mark his one-year Concentric anniversary, we celebrated with Alex and his wife (his biggest supporter through every session) over dinner, made possible by the mobility, balance and confidence he's built along the way.

Proud of you, Alex 💛

This week is Dementia Action Week, running from 21 to 27 September. This year's theme from Dementia Australia is simple: it's time to talk about dementia.

One of the hardest parts for families is knowing the difference between normal forgetfulness and something more. Misplacing your keys occasionally is ordinary. Dementia is different, it affects memory, thinking, behaviour and the ability to manage everyday tasks in ways that go beyond typical ageing.

That distinction matters because the earlier it's understood, the sooner families can access the right support.

This week we'll be sharing more on what to look out for and what meaningful support can actually look like.

When admin is in WA and none of the Eastern States clinics share footy fever photos... Freo it is!

Our Spearwood clinic decked the clinic in purple and brought purple cupcakes for the clients and crew to enjoy, in preparation for the big Prelim final tonight.

Go on Freo! Our WA team (and apparently our VIC & NSW team too😉) are behind you 💜🧁

A little throwback to Book Week 📚

Our team celebrated everything that makes a great story: the characters, the voices, and the adventures that stay with us long after the last page.

Big shoutout to Lara, who went all in for Book Week and even dressed up as Miss Trunchbull, bringing the whole team along with her for a very professional morning huddle 😅

Every story matters, and we loved celebrating that together 📖❤️
