A little goodbye from me and Mel for the next five weeks 🐾❤️

My heart will be here with BM Physio and with my baby girl, Mel 🥹💔 I’ll miss you all, but I’m going to enjoy this time away with my family as much as I can.

If you have a question about your exercise program while I’m away, you can still email or text me. I’ll reply when I can.

Please keep looking after yourselves. Even on the days you don’t feel motivated, a little movement still counts. Keep your bodies active, and I’ll see you when I’m back! 🧡💚

Hi everyone! 👋This is my last video for a little while before my holidays, and I wanted to talk about one of the muscle groups I focus on most in the clinic: the glutes.

Why are strong glutes so important? Your glutes do much more than move your leg backwards. They help control your hips and keep your pelvis stable when you walk, climb stairs, stand on one leg, run and play sport. They also work with your other muscles to support your lower back and help you keep going as you get tired.

When your glutes are weak or aren’t working well for a particular movement, you may find it harder to control your hip and pelvis, especially on one leg. That can affect how you move and where you feel strain. But glute weakness isn’t the cause of every hip, knee or back problem—each person needs an individual assessment.

If I had to choose one muscle group to keep training, the glutes would be high on my list.

Do you have any questions about your glutes or which exercises are right for you? Send me a message. See you after my holidays! 🧡💚

✨Hi everyone! 🙋‍♀️💚

For those who don’t know yet, I’ll be taking two little breaks from the clinic — one short break in September and then a longer family holiday. ✈️🌿

The clinic will be completely closed during these dates, so please make sure you book your appointments in advance, especially if you are currently following a treatment or care plan.

📅 5–9 September
Back on 10 September

📅 26 September–4 November
Back on 5 November

If possible, I’d love to make sure everyone is progressing well with their treatment before I leave.

This longer break will be a very special time away with my family. ❤️

And once again, thank you so much for your trust, support and for continuing to choose BM Physio. It truly means a lot to me.

Please book ahead, and I look forward to seeing you before I go — and again when I’m back! 💚

✨PAIN AT THE TOP OF YOUR SHOULDER? 👀✨

Sometimes the painful area isn’t the only area we need to work on.

This exercise focuses on shoulder blade control + shoulder stability while the arms move overhead.

It helps activate:
✨ Serratus anterior
✨ Rotator cuff
✨ Mid & lower trapezius

The goal? Better scapular movement and less overloading of the upper traps during everyday movements.

💡 Your shoulder and shoulder blade need to work together.

Exercise selection depends on the individual assessment and cause of pain.

🌿 MONDAY TIP — BOUNDARIES ARE HEALTHY✨

Setting boundaries isn’t always easy, but they are necessary — especially when balancing our personal and professional lives.

Boundaries aren’t about pushing people away. They’re about protecting your time, energy and wellbeing, while maintaining healthy and respectful relationships.

Just like your body gives you signals when it has had enough, your mind does too.

Healthy boundaries can look like:

✨ Saying no without feeling guilty
✨ Making time for rest and recovery
✨ Not always being available
✨ Communicating what you need
✨ Protecting your personal time
✨ Choosing what deserves your energy

Learning to set and respect boundaries is part of looking after yourself — physically and mentally. 💚

Remember: rest is productive too.

✨Why does your lower back pain keep coming back? 🤔✨

Sometimes, the problem isn’t only where you feel the pain.

Your hips, pelvis and lower-back muscles all work together. If some muscles aren’t doing their job well, other muscles may start working harder to compensate.

For example, I often see:

👉 An overactive or tight QL (quadratus lumborum)
👉 Reduced glute medius strength or control
👉 Weakness through the hamstrings and adductors
👉 Poor hip and pelvic control

When the QL is working excessively on one side, it can contribute to the pelvis sitting higher on that side and increase tension through the lower back.

So you can keep stretching or massaging the painful area and feel better temporarily… but if we don’t address why that area is being overloaded, the pain may keep returning.

⚠️ But this is important: not EVERY case of lower-back pain is caused by muscle imbalance.

Before deciding what is tight, weak or “not working,” you need a proper assessment.

That’s what we look for in physiotherapy — not just where it hurts, but WHY it may be hurting. 👌👌👌
