This is something I share from my own life.
For a very long time, silence in a conversation felt like a problem I needed to solve.
So I talked. Explained. Asked questions. Made sure there was no gap that could be filled by something worse.
It took me a while to understand that what I was actually doing was managing my anxiety about what the silence might mean.
Because in the home I grew up in, silence was rarely neutral.
Healing, for me, included learning that silence can just be silence.
That a pause between two people does not have to mean something is wrong.
That it can mean something is, for once, genuinely okay.
If you fill every silence, I wonder if something similar is true for you.
Save this.
