Keeping up with the shopping, cleaning, gardening and caring for her husband was becoming too much for Brigitte to manage on her own.

Now, she says one of the most reassuring things is knowing someone is there when she needs them. As she puts it, "I knew if my balance really went and I tottered, she'd be right there to catch me."

Having seen the care Brightwater provided her mother, and knowing its long history as a trusted WA not-for-profit, Brigitte felt confident choosing Brightwater at Home.

Hear why she believes people should ask for help sooner rather than later.

When someone is living with dementia, it is natural to wonder if you are saying the right thing, doing enough, or somehow getting it wrong.

The truth is, connection might not look like it used to, and that's okay.

In this video, Brightwater dementia specialists, Naomi Moylan and Michelle Harris join Fiona Simpson from Dementia Australia to share some of the lesson they've learned from supporting families living with dementia.

From the little things that help when words do not come as easily as they once did, to why reaching out early can make it easier to navigate the road ahead.

Jason and Jodie have always shared a tight bond.

When Jason found out he had young onset dementia at 46, life changed for both him and his sister Jodie.

What followed was a journey of finding answers, adjusting to new realities and learning how to roll with whatever life threw at them.

Now living at Brightwater's supported independent living home specifically for people living with young onset dementia, Jodie has been able to breathe easy knowing Jason is in good hands.

Most importantly, it has allowed them to get back to basics, being brother and sister again.
