This is from the Gottman Institute and this couple have some very good materials and podcasts about couples and relationships.
They mention oxytocin. Just to explain that this is the love hormone. Researchers have measured this when you are around someone (or an animal even) which illicits your love attraction. As the mother is focused on the baby, as she inevitably has to provide for the new little one, and is drawn to by a hormonal and overwhelming love, the husband can feel outcast. And as he withdraws, feeling shunned, the mother feels abandoned and left to all the practical and emotional tasks.
Miscommunication and unmet needs can cause conflict in this arena.
