Peter travelled all the way from Albany to stay at our Noranda respite accommodation. 🏠

A passionate train enthusiast, Peter has loved getting out to see some of Perth's historic trains during his visit. Having stayed with us before, it was wonderful to welcome him back and help him enjoy another memorable stay doing what he loves most.

As a shy, non-verbal man with Down syndrome, making social connections wasn't always easy for Jamie.

He communicated via an app, where he would ask his mum, Linda, for one thing over and over again, “friends”.

But after moving into Rocky Bay supported accommodation, Jamie has found more than just a new home. He’s found friendship and greater independence, and a community where he belongs.🫶

For Linda, the transition was emotional, but seeing how he’s thrived in his new home, she knew she’d made the right decision.

"We haven't lost him. He's just living his life."💙

"Look, I cook!" 💜

A simple moment in the kitchen became a powerful reminder of what can happen when people are given the opportunity to participate, make choices and be heard.

For our supported accommodation Nadine, having a support team that took the time to listen beyond words has opened new opportunities for choice, participation and meaningful connection.
