Today marks a new beginning for me and my small but deeply meaningful NDIS business. After taking some much-needed personal time away, I’m returning with a clearer mindset, renewed passion, and a more positive outlook on both my work and myself.
Working in the NDIS space over the last three years has taught me one of the most important lessons of all — the importance of protecting your mental and physical wellbeing. There was a time where I genuinely questioned the reason I became an NDIS provider in the first place. The stigma surrounding providers within this industry affected me more deeply than I ever expected.
As a proud Midwife and Nurse, I know I have so much to offer my community. In the hospital setting, I help bring new life into the world — a place often filled with gratitude, happy tears, and hope. Yet in the disability sector, the negative stories highlighted by the media can sometimes overshadow the thousands of hardworking, compassionate providers who dedicate their lives to supporting vulnerable people. The actions of a few dishonest individuals often paint the entire industry with the same brush, and at one point it made me question whether I truly belonged in this space at all.
But stepping back gave me clarity.
I realised being an NDIS provider is not “just another business” or a side job for me. It is something deeply personal. It is a passion and a commitment to supporting vulnerable members of our community — people who also deserve dignity, hope, compassion, and moments of happiness. Just like the mothers and families I support through childbirth, our NDIS participants deserve to feel seen, heard, and cared for, especially during difficult times.
That purpose never left my heart.
So today, I’ve made the decision to fully reinvest in my business emotionally, mentally, and professionally. While this industry continues to change rapidly — and not always in positive ways — our participants still rely on honest, ethical providers who genuinely care. Providers who continue to show up even when plans are underfunded and participants are struggling to access the basic supports every human being deserves.
To everyone who took the time to read this, thank you. I hope we can continue reconnecting, supporting one another, and uplifting each other in what can be a very high-stress industry. Because behind every NDIS plan, every document, and every piece of evidence is a real human being simply trying to live with dignity and receive the support they need.
And behind every good provider is a person who genuinely cares.
