💙 On 21 July 2026, Parkinson's WA proudly hosted our Parkinson's Nurse Specialist Education Day at The Niche.
Our Parkinson's Nurse Specialists came together for a day of learning, collaboration, and connection, with presentations from psychologists, speech pathologists, research coordinators, neurologists, and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) trainers. 🩺✨
A highlight of the day was the opportunity for nurses to share their experiences and learn from one another, strengthening the care and support provided to people living with Parkinson's.
A big thank you to all our guest speakers and attendees for making the day such a success! 💙

🌧️ Rainy weather didn't stop the fun at our Cannington Support Group on 16 July 2026! 💙
Taking a break from guest speakers and information sessions, our members enjoyed a relaxed morning filled with games, cards, puzzles, plenty of laughs, and delicious snacks. 🃏🧩☕✨
From fast-paced Sudoku team races to almost-completed puzzles, there was plenty of friendly competition—but the real highlight was spending time together and sharing a few smiles. 😊

🧠 World Brain Day 2026 | 22 July
Today, on World Brain Day, we join the global community in raising awareness about brain health and neurological conditions, including Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s affects movement, speech, sleep, mental wellbeing, and many aspects of daily life — but with understanding, support, and ongoing research, we can help people live well with Parkinson’s.
At Parkinson’s WA, we are committed to supporting Western Australians living with Parkinson’s through education, connection, advocacy, and specialised services.
This World Brain Day, we encourage everyone to:
💙 Learn more about brain health
💙 Support people living with neurological conditions
💙 Help reduce stigma through awareness and understanding
💙 Advocate for continued research and better care
Together, we can create a more informed, supportive, and inclusive community.

🥗🧠 Exciting progress on the Brain Bites research project!
Parkinson's WA is proud to support this innovative research in partnership with Edith Cowan University (ECU), the Centre for Precision Health (ECU) and Dinner Twist, exploring how a co-designed meal box can help improve nutrition, independence and quality of life for people living with Parkinson's.
Here's what’s been achieved so far:
✨ Ethics and clinical trial approvals secured.
🗣️ People living with Parkinson's, their families and allied health professionals shared their valuable experiences to help shape the project.
🤝 Strong community interest, with around 60 expressions of interest from people wanting to be involved.
🎉 The recent co-design workshop was a fantastic success! Researchers, people with lived experience and the industry partner Dinner Twist worked together to help shape a meal box that is practical, accessible and tailored to the Parkinson's community..
A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, ideas and lived experience. Your voices are helping create an evidence-based solution that has the potential to make a real difference for people living with Parkinson's.

💙 Exciting news for the Parkinson's community in Western Australia! 💙
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters through our recent Crisis Appeal, and the unwavering commitment of our Board, Parkinson's WA is delighted to welcome Marie Nolan as our newest Parkinson's Nurse Specialist.
Marie is a Registered Nurse and the first participant to complete Parkinson's WA's Experiential Learning Program. Her appointment is a testament to her dedication to improving the lives of people living with Parkinson's.
For Marie, this role is also deeply personal. With her father living with Parkinson's, she understands firsthand the challenges faced by individuals and families navigating the condition, and the importance of access to specialist care across Western Australia.
💙 To everyone who donated to our Crisis Appeal: thank you. Your generosity has made this appointment possible and is helping expand vital specialist support for people living with Parkinson's across WA. Together, we're making a real difference.
Please join us in giving Marie a warm Parkinson's WA welcome! 👏
