Conductive Education (CE) a unique, holistic educational programme available at Carson Street School.

Conductive Education (CE) is a holistic system of education which views people with neurological conditions as a whole, integrating education, rehabilitation and learning into one unified approach. It was established by Professor András Pető in Hungary in the 1940’s. He recognised that people with lifelong disabilities required a different learning model, hence the educational system. Neurological conditions create a wide range of developmental challenges which can involve areas of gross and fine movement, perception, cognition, social skills, emotional development, speech, language and communication. These in turn can significantly affect motivation, confidence and personality. Conductive Education enables those with a damaged central nervous system (CNS) to learn to overcome or reduce their disability. Although the disability can be defined, having a disability does not define the person. Some of our CE students have worked with WADSA to film a piece for Telethon, which was played on the Channel 7 news last week. Telethon provide WADSA with much needed funding that allows some of their amazing programs to go ahead. The video will also be shown on TV across the Telethon weekend. Today is World Cerebral Palsy Day 💚

More than 17 million people worldwide live with cerebral palsy. Behind every number is a person with their own goals, strengths and way of moving through the world.

Conductive Education is an active, whole-person approach that builds independence, confidence and participation in everyday life. Conductors work alongside children, adults and families, and celebrate every step forward, big or small.

Today, the Professional Conductors Association stands with the CP community. We celebrate their achievements, champion inclusion, and push for wider access to specialist support.

WA’s first children’s hospice is now complete.

Sandcastles (Boodja Mia) in Swanbourne will be a peaceful sanctuary for children who need respite and palliative care.

And a place where families can be together, making precious memories.

It’ll provide 24/7 specialist care, along with outreach and support for families - offering comfort, dignity and strength during incredibly difficult times.

Because every Western Australian deserves access to the healthcare they need, when they need it.

Quiz Night Alert!

Carson Street School Quiz Night is basically the social event of the century (don’t argue, we’ve decided). Tables are disappearing faster than snacks in the staff room, so if you haven’t booked yours yet, this is your gentle nudge… okay fine, it’s a shove. We are inviting families to join the creative development of Snuggleplay, a new multi-sensory theatre experience designed especially for babies with disability and developmental delay.

What to expect:
• A gentle, engaging theatre experience with live music, movement and creative play
• Babies and grown-ups seated together in a small, welcoming circle
• A relaxed, inclusive environment designed with your baby’s needs in mind
• An opportunity to help shape the show by sharing your feedback

Who is this for?
All pre-walking babies aged 6–18 months, inclusive of any disability or developmental delay.

When:
Monday 15 June – Friday 19 June 2026, sessions at 10am or 1pm

Where:
Old Jandakot Primary School, 12 Poletti Rd, Cockburn Central WA 6164

Stay to enjoy delicious morning or afternoon tea with other families.
