43 hours. A primip. A prodromal labour that became precipitous.
A baby born in the caul.

Here is the full debrief — every screenshot, what the data was showing, and what I did at each step.

A few things the poll results told me:
· At hour 0: only 10% identified the non-progressive pattern.
· At hour 27: 0% knew the intent of the technique they were watching.
· At hour 31: 100% said ‘more OMP’ — when the correct move was actually to rest and let the body take over.

This is not a criticism. This is the gap OMP exists to close.

The four things this birth teaches us:
· The rubber band effect — why prodromal labour can become precipitous
· The intent behind each OMP technique — so you know when to use it and when to stop
· How to read duration and frequency separately
· How to turn a prodromal labour into a precipitous labour

5:00am. Home waterbirth. Born in the caul. 10–20 minutes of pushing.
After 43 hours of prodromal labour.

And the pattern in your answers told me everything I needed to know about what birth professionals are still missing.
Most of you knew something needed to be done. Very few of you knew what — or why.
At hour 30, I asked: she’s in Open Knee Chest. What are you focusing on?
33% said: I don’t know what to do.
0% identified the actual intent of the technique.
That’s not a criticism. That’s the gap OMP exists to close.

Perth has one of the highest caesarean rates in Australia. You are working in that reality every shift.
OMP doesn’t change the system. It changes what you can do within it.
Perth is also my second home. Andrew’s family is here. I have been teaching Perth birth professionals since 2017 — seven workshops alongside Vicki Hobbs, who has believed in the power of maternal positioning before most people knew what it meant.
We brought the methodology to Perth together. This visit we bring OMP.
The Perth birth community has been on this journey from the beginning. The questions got sharper over the years. The practice got deeper. The births changed.
This is the continuation of something that started here eight years ago.
