Did you know that approximately one-third to one-half of carers experience significant psychological distress, with carers experiencing mental health challenges more often than the general population?*

While caring for someone can be deeply meaningful, it can also bring unique emotional, physical, and practical demands. Over time, these responsibilities can contribute to stress, burnout, overwhelm, and feelings of isolation.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or struggling with the emotional demands of caring for someone else, support is available. Our psychologists can help you navigate the challenges of caregiving while prioritising your own mental health and wellbeing.

Men's mental health matters.

While many men experience anxiety and depression, seeking support can often feel difficult due to stigma, social expectations, or a belief that they should manage on their own. But support doesn't have to begin with the person struggling. Sometimes it starts with a friend, partner, colleague, or family member encouraging them to take that first step. Can you be a mental health ambassador to someone who needs it?

At Clear Health Psychology, we support more than 2,400 people each week across our clinics. We know that life can be challenging, and we also know that help is available. If someone in your life is struggling, let them know that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Investing time in your mental health is not a luxury, it's essential.

The long waiting lists many people remember from the COVID years have eased, and psychologists are available now to help.

🌿 Please join us in welcoming two new clinicians to the Clear Health Psychology team!

👋 Dr Chris Howard joins our Clarkson clinic, supporting children, adults, and families with compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each individual's needs and goals.

Chris draws on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), family systems, mindfulness, and other evidence-based approaches. A unique aspect of his work with younger clients is the use of storytelling and roleplay, including Dungeons & Dragons, to help children and adolescents build skills, navigate challenges, and engage in therapy in a creative and meaningful way.

👋 Amila Trako, Clinical Psychologist, joins our Ellenbrook clinic and works with clients aged 16 years and over. Amila has a particular interest in supporting individuals experiencing trauma and chronic illness, providing a warm, collaborative, and evidence-based approach to therapy.

We're excited to welcome Chris and Amila to our growing team and look forward to the positive impact they'll make in the lives of our clients and families.

Today, on First Responders Day, we acknowledge and thank the individuals who dedicate themselves to supporting and protecting our communities during times of crisis, emergency, and uncertainty.

First responders often work in highly demanding environments and may experience ongoing exposure to stress, trauma, and emotional pressure as part of their roles. Prioritising mental health and wellbeing is an important part of sustaining both personal and professional resilience.

At Clear Health Psychology, we recognise the valuable contribution first responders make within our communities and the importance of accessible, compassionate, and evidence-based psychological support.

If you are a first responder looking for support, our psychologists are here to help.

Older adults living in residential aged care facilities can experience challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, loneliness, adjustment to changing health needs, and other concerns that may impact their wellbeing. Support is availability immediately.

At Clear Health Psychology, our clinicians provide fully funded psychological support directly within aged care facilities across Perth. This is an Australian Government Initiative and commissioned by the West Australian Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA). There is no cost to the resident or aged care facility.

Residents who may benefit from psychological treatment can be identified by family members, personal care staff, or registered nurses. Accessing the program is simple, a GP referral is required, and our team will guide you through the process.

📞 To refer a resident or learn more about our Residential Aged Care Program, contact our Aged Care Team on (08) 6378 4710

Parenthood can bring love, joy, and purpose, but it can also bring unexpected grief for the parts of yourself and your life that have changed. 💙

Sometimes this is referred to as ambiguous grief, grieving something that hasn’t fully disappeared, but no longer feels the same. Many parents experience feelings of identity loss, overwhelm, guilt, or disconnection from themselves, and these experiences are more common than people realise.

You can love your children deeply and miss who you used to be. Both feelings can exist at the same time.

If this resonates with you, know that support is available. Our psychologists are here to help parents navigate burnout, emotional overwhelm, identity shifts, and reconnecting with themselves with compassion and care. 🌿

We’re excited to announce that we now have immediate availability for ADHD assessments at our Currambine clinic 🌿

Jessica Benson-Lidholm, Registered Psychologist, offers comprehensive ADHD assessments tailored to the individual. A significant point of difference in Jessica’s assessment work is her experience supporting neurodivergent clients who may be at greater risk of missed or delayed diagnosis due to masking, compensation strategies, high cognitive ability, internalised presentations, or diagnostic overshadowing. This includes girls and women, gifted presentations, PDA-profile presentations, highly masked ADHD presentations, and individuals who may not present in stereotypical ways.

If you would like to learn more about our ADHD assessments, or to book an appointment with Jessica:

National Reconciliation Week is a time to reflect on the importance of understanding, respect, and meaningful action.

Reconciliation is not a single moment — it is an ongoing commitment to listening, learning, and strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

In mental health care, this also means recognising the ongoing impacts of history and intergenerational trauma, while continuing to foster culturally safe, inclusive, and respectful support.

At Clear Health Psychology, we remain committed to strengthening how we learn, listen, and provide care in ways that are thoughtful, respectful, and meaningful.
