🔥 PITTA DOSHA

🔥 Many people may notice feeling more irritable, impatient, overheated, inflamed, or mentally “burnt out” when Pitta becomes imbalanced.

In Ayurveda, like increases like — meaning the hot, sharp, intense and focused qualities in lifestyle, stress, and routine can aggravate Pitta within the body and mind.

🍀 The good news? Small changes to food, routine and lifestyle can make a huge difference in restoring balance.

Swipe through to learn:
✨ Common Pitta traits
✨ Emotional & physical signs
✨ Pitta strengths
✨ Simple ways to feel cool, calm and balanced

Remember — we all carry a unique combination of Vata, Pitta & Kapha, and often multiple doshas can be out of balance at once.

✨ If you’d like to discover your unique constitution and receive personalised Ayurvedic guidance, we’d love to support you.

Book a consultation with one of our Ayurvedic practitioners at the clinic to explore your dosha balance, lifestyle practices, herbs and treatments tailored specifically for you.

It is important that you speak with a practitioner to understand if these qualities are due to an imbalance or natural tendencies.

Who is the ‘Pitta’ in your life? Which Pitta trait do you relate to most? Let us know — we’d love to hear!

Bath the Ayurvedic Way 🛁 - Neem bath 🌿

Bathing traditions are deeply rooted in Indian culture. According to Vagbhata’s Ashtanga Sangraha:

“A good bath warms the body, gives vigour, supports longevity and strength. It also helps relieve itching, impurities, fatigue, sweat, lethargy, thirst and burning sensations.”

Snana (bathing) is a daily practice recommended in Ayurveda to remove waste products (Mala) and sweat (Sweda). It is believed to enhance:

✨ Strength (Bala)
✨ Beauty (Roopa)
✨ Clarity of voice (Swarashuddhi)
✨ Softness of touch (Sparsha)
✨ Pleasant body fragrance (Gandha)
✨ Cleanliness (Parishuddhata)
✨ Peace and wellbeing (Shanti)

Ayurveda offers some unique bathing recommendations you may not have heard before:

🛁 Avoid hot water on the head and eyes.
🛁 Avoid bathing immediately after eating.
🛁 Pour water over the back of the neck using a jug or vessel to promote strength and vitality.
🛁 Use traditional herbal bath powders instead of soap where possible. Soaps can be drying, while herbal blends containing gram flour and herbs help nourish the skin.
🛁 Add neem leaves, sandalwood powder, jasmine, roses 🌹 or milk 🥛 to your bath.
🛁 Fill the bath only to navel level when possible. This is traditionally known as Avagaha (sitz bath).

Avoid bathing if you are experiencing:
• Diarrhoea (Atisara)
• Facial paralysis (Ardita)
• Immediately after eating (Bhuktavat)
• Fever (Jwara)
• Ear pain or infection (Karnashoola)

We hope you enjoyed learning a little more about bathing from an Ayurvedic perspective. More about the benefits of bathing with Neem leaves to come soon 🌿🌿🌿

The crystallised ginger prepared by our Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant students underwent quality assurance by Ayurvedic practitioners Karin and Roberta. 😋

It’s soo good that we would like to share this recipe with you. 💝

Crystallised Ginger 🫚 🔥

Ingredients:

* 500 g fresh ginger
* 500 g coconut sugar
* Water

Instructions 🧑‍🍳👩‍🍳

1. Peel the ginger and cut it into 3–5 mm slices.
2. Place the ginger in a pot and add enough water to cover it.
3. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 30–40 minutes, or until the ginger is soft.
4. Drain the ginger, reserving the cooking water.
5. In a clean pot, combine:
* the cooked ginger
* ½ cup of the reserved ginger water
* the raw sugar (adjust to taste; less sugar can be used for a milder sweetness)

We love ghee — and the aroma of making it is still in the air at the Lakshmi Clinic.💛
In Ayurveda, ghee, also known as clarified butter, is highly valued for its numerous health benefits. It is considered a sattvic food, meaning it promotes clarity, balance, and harmony. Here are some of the Ayurvedic benefits of ghee:

1. Digestive Health:
Ghee is believed to stimulate the secretion of digestive enzymes, aiding in better digestion and absorption of nutrients.

2. Lubrication and Nourishment:
Ghee is considered an excellent source of nourishment for the body and helps lubricate joints and tissues.

3. Agni (Digestive Fire) Enhancement:
Ayurveda views ghee as one of the best substances for balancing and strengthening the digestive fire (agni), which is essential for proper digestion and metabolism.

4. Enhances Absorption of Nutrients:
Ghee has the ability to pe*****te deep into the tissues of the body, facilitating the absorption and transportation of fat-soluble vitamins and nutrients.

5. Supports Immune System:
Ghee is believed to boost the body’s immune system and support overall immune function.

6. Mental Clarity and Focus:
Ghee is considered a brain tonic that enhances mental clarity, memory, and cognitive functions.

7. Laxative Effect:
When taken in moderate amounts, ghee can have a mild laxative effect, promoting regular bowel movements.

8. Healthy Skin and Eyes:
Ghee’s moisturizing properties nourish the skin, and it is traditionally used in Ayurveda for promoting healthy eyesight.

9. Balances Doshas:
Ghee is considered to balance all three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) and is used in various Ayurvedic preparations.

10. Detoxification:
Ghee is used in Ayurvedic detoxification therapies like Panchakarma.

It’s important to note that while ghee offers several health benefits, it is calorie-dense, and moderation is key, especially for those with weight or cholesterol concerns. Ayurvedic guidelines suggest using ghee in small to moderate amounts, and it is best to consume pure, organic, and high-quality ghee for optimal benefits.

What a beautiful morning at the Lakshmi Clinic, where Ayurvedic practitioner Roberta guided a wonderful group through the traditional process of making ghee.

If you missed this workshop, don’t worry — we offer it monthly.
The next one is on the 2nd of July 2026.

Why Ghee?

In Ayurveda, ghee is often called the “food of the gods” because of its deeply nourishing and restorative qualities. Traditionally, it is used to support digestion, vitality, and overall wellbeing.

During the workshop, you’ll learn not only how to make ghee, but also why it has been treasured for centuries as an important part of Ayurvedic practice.

And of course, ghee is also wonderful for making ghee-soaked dates — a pure delight and a beautiful nourishing treat enjoyed in Ayurvedic traditions.

With Love, your Lakshmi Ayurveda team 💛💛💛

Golden Milk 🥛🌕
One of our favourite and most popular in house made formulations. 🧡🫶

The main ingredient of golden milk is Turmeric, along with a number of other spices. Turmeric is Haridra in Sanskrit, which literally means yellow because of the yellow pigment found in the rhizomes of this much-talked wonder herb. Stirred in the pure white of the milk, turns in a golden colour with so many benefits for our well-being, especially when mixed with black pepper.

Here at the clinic, we have created our own Lakshmi Golden Milk mix - a delicious drink to help satisfy any sweet craving you may have especially after dinner. Considered an anupana, milk helps carry herbs and medicines, such Turmeric, deep within the channels of the body.

Try this mix before bed to help relax into sleep or add to your morning routine if you are looking for something to fill for morning coffee ritual that is caffeine free.

Simply add the mixture to a milk of your choice and bring to a very gentle boil. Remove from heat. You can add a small amount of ghee and stir.

Enjoy ☺️

With Love, your Lakshmi team 🥰
