⁉️Save this post for some GF snack ideas!

TIP! If you have Coeliac Disease, always double check the ingredients label for products such as flavoured yoghurt, dips etc. for gluten sources and ‘may contain’ - over time trusted gluten free products may change in their manufacturing processes and ingredients.

✨ The role of nutrition for infertility ✨

Didn't know that nutrition can have a huge impact on infertility?
Not only can it increase your chances of conceiving, but it also plays a crucial role in the future health of your baby! 👶🏼
So regardless of your situation-nutrition still plays an important role!

Let's take a look at some of the key points we would be focusing on with nutrition interventions for infertility:

🍏Optimising existing dietary conditions: we will look to address and optimise your nutritional status with any existing conditions like coeliac disease, diabetes, endometriosis etc.

🥚Optimising egg health: we know that diet has a huge impact on the quality of our eggs and through optimising egg health we can increase chances of conceiving and having both a healthy pregnancy and baby!

💪Optimising s***m health: yes we will be talking to him too!! His diet leading up to conception will impact the quality of his s***m and hence the genetic material that will be passed on to your baby. We also know that nutrition can have an impact on factors like low s***m count and poor s***m morphology.

📅 Ovulation: one of the most common reasons for struggling to conceive is irregular or absent ovulation! Research has shown that dietary interventions can decrease ovulatory infertility by over 80%!

❣️Implantation: we can optimise chances of implantation through key micronutrients which may be able to assist in preparing a thick and healthy uterine lining and decreasing inflammation.

💊 Supplementation: ensuring your supplementation is tailored to YOU preconception and throughout pregnancy can be so important in optimising your chances of conceiving and promoting a healthy pregnancy and baby!

Label reading?
Understanding gluten itself?
Understanding coeliac disease?
Anxiety when you go out to eat at restaurants?
Ongoing symptoms even though you are on a GF Diet?

Above is a very simplified, short summary of how a dietitian can help you manage and improve your overall well-being if you have coeliac disease.

Repost from our Fertility Dietitian .nutritionist

It's such a joy when I'm working with clients and they can confidently confirm ovulation and their own fertile window!✨

Your fertile window is only is handful of days each cycle, so it's important to know exactly when that is, so you know the best time to have s*x! 💑

My biggest tip is don't JUST rely on your app because it's there to predict, rather than confirm! 📵

We need to look at what's happening within your body, so looking at your temperature, cervical mucus, a blood test to measure progesterone or an ultrasound is ideal. OPK's (ovulation predictor kits) can give us great information too, but don't work for everyone. A combination of methods usually works well.

For all of you out there trying to navigate the ups and downs of your cycle, well done!!

It's important to celebrate every little step of the way ❤️

Wondering if you have diabetes? There are some key signs to look for if you suspect you have diabetes!

If you are feeling tired a lot despite a full nights rest, having to go to the bathroom no matter how much water you drink, have itchy skin, blurry vision, or feeling hungry and/or thirsty despite eating and drinking, you may want to talk to your doctor and get labs.

Some other signs:
✅ feeling irritable
✅ slow healing of wounds
✅ headaches
✅ sweating

If you have diabetes already, these signs could indicate your blood sugars may be unbalanced.

If you are newly diagnosed or just frustrated with figuring out what to do, know diabetes doesn’t have to be scary and you don’t have to do it alone.

Do you ever wonder when the perfect time to eat a banana is? 🍌

Well, its whenever you feel like it, the main priority is to consume at least 2 serves of fruit per day and consuming one banana gets you halfway!

But does the nutritional content change? yes!

💚🍌Green bananas (unripe): low FODMAP safe, low GI food (releases sugar slowly) and a good source of prebiotics thanks to being full of resistant starch 👏

🍌Yellow bananas (ripe): High antioxidant levels and good fibre content. Sweeter and softer then green.

💩🍌Brown Bananas (overripe): Lower fibre content, high antioxidant levels, very sweet and very soft.

What is your preferred banana ripeness?

Which product do you think is healthier⁉️🤔

At first glance, the coconut yoghurt is looking promising - the packaging claims this yoghurt is ‘natural’ and has ‘no added sugar’ ✅

However, this is where we need to take a closer look 🧐

If we look at the information on the second slide, we can see the Coyo has 8.2 grams less protein and 170 more calories. The real kicker is the difference in fat content, with the Coyo containing 22.2 grams MORE saturated fat than the Greek yoghurt 😱

This post is not to say to never eat coconut yoghurt, as it can definitely be consumed occasionally as part of a balanced diet 🍎🍊🍓🥦🥝🍔🥕🧀🥙🥗🍜🍛

If you are eating it because you think it’s healthier, have a think again after reading this information.

Let us know if there are any other products you’d like us to compare ⬇️
