Swinging 60s🕺 🪩

There were plenty of smiles and a few memorable fashion choices when Bethanie Perth Central Social Centre turned back the clock for our Back to the 60s event.

Residents and team members fully embraced the groovy theme, with op‑shop finds, vintage‑inspired outfits and jukebox classics setting the scene on the dance floor. From the photo booth to a few spontaneous dance moves, it was a joyful reminder of how music and dress‑ups can spark memories and connection.

65 Roses for Cystic Fibrosis🌹

Last Friday at Bethanie Dalyellup Aged Care Home, residents and staff members welcomed a very special guest, Connor.

Connor lives with cystic fibrosis and is a passionate music student at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School. Residents enjoyed a moving musical performance from Connor and his classmates, along with the meaningful gesture of receiving a rose in honour of 65 Roses for Cystic Fibrosis day.

In 1965, a young boy who struggled to say “cystic fibrosis” instead said “65 roses”. The phrase has since become a global symbol of love, resilience and hope. Through music, conversation and kindness, this special visit brought generations together while helping raise awareness for a cause that touches many Australian families.

🎨 Colourful Moments
Our painting class at Bethanie Subiaco Aged Care Home was filled with creativity as residents expressed themselves through beautiful landscapes, ocean scenes and even a graceful ballerina. It was a joy watching Keven and June bring their artwork to life and share their talents with everyone. 🌼

At Bethanie Maali Social Centre, we came together to recognise National Reconciliation Week, embracing the 2026 theme of "All In" and the importance of unity, learning and respect.

Clients, staff and community members shared the day alongside James and his students from Newton Moore Senior High School. The students generously shared Dreamtime stories and showcased traditional First Nations artefacts. These moments of storytelling and cultural learning created space for listening, reflection and connection.

National Reconciliation Week reminds us that reconciliation is something we all contribute to, by showing up, learning together and walking forward with respect. 💛🖤❤️

Residents from Bethanie Geneff Aged Care Home were recently treated to a special performance from Japanese Sakura Choir. 🌸

Among the singers was Bethanie care worker, Mai. The choir shared stunning harmonies across much‑loved classics like Amazing Grace, You Are My Sunshine and We Are Australian, alongside traditional Japanese songs sung in both English and Japanese.

This concert was especially meaningful for Mai, as her mum was visiting from Japan and joined in for the performance. A truly special moment of culture, family and connection.🩷

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation.

The theme is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

At Bethanie, this means creating experiences of care and support that respect the identity, history, culture, and choices of every individual, while continuing to strengthen understanding and connection across our communities.

Thriving veggies thanks to Pedro!🥦

At Bethanie Illawong Aged Care home, Pedro takes great pride in tending to the veggie patch. From zucchini and broad beans to beetroot, chillies and tomatoes, the garden is always well looked after.

When the produce is ready, Pedro is quick to offer it to other residents, staff and even the kitchen team.

The Volunteer Week celebrations continue✨

This week we have been recognising the generosity, care and commitment our volunteers bring every day. From morning teas to certificates of appreciation, it has been a meaningful chance to pause and say thank you.

Resident Judith beautifully captured the spirit of the week in a speech she wrote to honour our volunteers:
“Thank you to the people who give their time, their kindness, and their hearts to make life brighter for others.”💚
