Benefits of Melting Heart Pose / Puppy Pose / Anahata Asana 💚

💚Shoulders + upper back
It opens the front of your shoulders and chest where we hold all that “baby-carrying” tightness. Helps undo the hunched-over-feeding posture without forcing anything.

💚Spine + neck
Keeps hips above knees so your lower back stays safe. The long reach through your arms gives your whole spine a gentle traction. Forehead down takes pressure off your neck.

💚Heart + chest
“Anahata” means heart center. Physically it stretches the chest muscles and fascia. Emotionally a lot of people feel it releases grief, stress, or that heavy “I’m holding it all” feeling. That’s why it’s called Melting Heart.

💚Nervous system
Forehead or chin on the floor is a calming position. It signals your body you’re safe. Slower breathing here naturally drops you out of fight-or-flight. Feels like a reset.

💚Hips + thighs
Because hips stay stacked over knees, you get a subtle stretch through the hip flexors and thighs too. Good after sitting, feeding, or standing with baby on hip.

💚Best part for tired mums: You don’t have to “do” anything. You just melt and let gravity work. It’s rest + stretch at the same time.

Eka Pada Vasisthasana ➡️ Hanumanasana ➡️ and back again 😅

🧘‍♀️What I've been practicing lately, day by day, slow and steady — why do we practice these postures and transitions? It's much more than just building strength:

🧘‍♀️Cultivates Focus: Transitioning from a side plank toe hold directly into front splits is a massive test of coordination. You have to pivot your hips and shift your weight seamlessly without losing your grip or your balance. Because you can’t rush or fake your way through it, the movement completely clears your mind and forces you into the present moment.

🧘‍♀️Teaches Patience: This sequence is incredibly tough, and it usually involves plenty of wobbles and missed steps before it clicks. Controlling the slow slide down into splits—and then finding the strength to pull that leg all the way back up—takes time. It really highlights the value of self-discipline (tapas) and embracing the messy process of building strength.

🧘‍♀️Breaks Mental Barriers: Your brain's natural reaction when suspended on one arm holding your foot is to panic and resist the stretch. Stepping through that hesitation and breathing into the opening helps you push past mental blocks. Managing the return journey back up builds a deep confidence in what your body can actually handle.

🌼It's ok to hold your baby, you are NOT spoiling them

If there was just one piece of advice I could give to new mothers, it’s this: It’s okay to hold your baby. It’s okay to respond to them at 2am, at 2pm, every time they call for you.

Holding with awareness isn’t spoiling them — it’s teaching them the world is safe. Every time you pick them up, every time you meet their cry, you’re building their trust and their calm nervous system.

Day and night, your arms are their safe place. You’re not “doing too much.” You’re doing exactly what they need.

We practice this mindful holding in all my online + in-person courses over Because you deserve support, and your baby deserves that connection.

You’re doing an amazing job, mama. 🫶

💚Green Tara: Moon of Wisdom💚

Long ago, in the turning of ages,
there lived a princess named Yeshe Dawa —
Moon of Wisdom.

Her heart was open, her hands were steady,
devoted to the mending of a suffering world.
The monks told her: Pray to be born a man.
Only men become teachers of the light.

She smiled, and spoke a truth older than their words: There is no man, no woman, no self.
These are only names we cling to.
I will stay in this form,
and work for the freeing of all beings.

So she sat in silence, year after year,
with compassion as her breath and wisdom as her flame. Until the night broke, and she became Green Tara, swift, fearless, the one who does not wait.

They say she hears the cry of every soul in danger and moves before the sound has faded.
She walks with travelers, parts the veil of fear,
and leads the lost through the dark.
In stone and paint she is shown with one foot forward, already rising to meet you where you fall.

And there is a legend: when Avalokiteshvara (The Bodhisattva of infinite Compassion) wept for the world’s pain, a single tear fell to water, and from that tear a lotus opened. From the lotus, Green Tara was born, shining with compassion, clothed in courage.

Even now, people call her name
for shelter, for healing, for wisdom,
for the quiet strength to rise again.

The Quiet in the Upside Down 🤸‍♂️

Everyone talks about the physical strength it takes to press into a handstand. But no one talks about the mental shift.

The moment your hips stack over your shoulders and your feet leave the floor, everything changes. The struggle stops. The gravity disappears. You feel completely weightless.

But the best part? Your mind goes totally quiet.

It is pure Bodhi—a moment of complete awakening and stillness. No past, no future, just absolute presence balanced on two hands.
